Angus Brayshaw keeps getting better. Hope the contract gets sorted out.

Mrs. Fritta (Fritta’s mum) sat in the cheer squad with us!! How [censored] cool is that?! And Clarrie’s mum does most weeks, too.
PS: my flag waving game’s not great. Not too bad though, only concussed a coupla ppl and took out one kid’s eye. That’s a solid 6 outta 10 for a noob.

Thought Hunt had another very good game, he’s very steady back there.

Great work from the boys today. Destroyed when we needed to, and absorbed the rest. Scoreboard was flattering for the Saints.

Wowee Langdon, kept quiet one week and this is what he does? Love it!

3 games and percentage clear of 4th, with the Roos and Eagles coming up.

🔥🔥🔥

TMac showing why he gets preferred to Weid.

38 point win over an in-form and confident Sainters. I will take that result every day of the week.

Some are disappointed that we didnt massacre them after a fast start but both teams played to win. Its not like they were ever gonna roll over and play dead. The lead was reduced to under 4 goals and we pulled away AGAIN.

Last year we didnt exactly thrash every team either but look what the end result was.

Today was a very good win.

In the lead up I was fairly certain St Kilda would give us a bit of a scare...so it was great to see the boys switched on right from the first bounce. We set the tone in the first ten minutes and allowed us to get on top mentally, which is so important against the Saints who are a big confidence team.

If Ed doesn't get an AA guernsey the whole thing is worthless.

And Angus outstanding! Where does Salem fit into this defence?

Max and LJ easily handled the Marshall/Ryder threat.

So good to see Kossie sparking and impacting offensively as well as defensively after his week off.

Buckley's commentating on Fox was quite telling and delivered in awe

Something about the Saints' pressure being elite at 200 (not sure what that is...) yet, we withstood that pressure and still kicked goals

I love my team!!!

This time my feeling was that even if they jag another to get within 16, it’ll take a good 2 to 3 minutes for that to happen

All I was thinking was that if they had kicked another I would be reading a weeks worth of nuffy posts about how badly we played.

Agree - I think the reason it was such as good win was because the opposition didn't throw in the towel. The margin in the end was pretty much accounted for by the dominant period we had in the first half. For the rest of the game it was an arm wrestle.

Beltings require a certain compliance from the opposition. The reason we haven't dealt one out is because we haven't yet had an opponent offer up the requisite surrender. It will come.

Was in the MCC. Had 6 feral Saints supporters insulting us the whole second half. Called our players ‘flops’. Said we were ‘weak’ and that they had ‘found us out’ and they would ‘beat us next time’. I have to admit that I got drawn in and called them ‘sore losers’. I am so glad we won.

Our second quarter reminded me of September last year.

That's what we're capable of and it's absolutely ridiculous given the pressure St Kilda were applying during that quarter.

When we click in all phases, we are simply unbeatable.

Loved spargos game today. Just fights for everything & never gives up on a contest

As Meatloaf sang, you took the words…

Spargo’s off the ball work was massive…halved at least 2 contests where he was outnumbered, tackled to kill the release like he’s the best at it we’ve got. Love the boy!

Can I say I don't mind the 1:10 game. You leave in the day and I got home at 4:30. I like it.

There were plenty of saints fans in the MCC today. They were ok, but when the saints got a little bit of a roll on they certainly became louder.

most gave Oliver BOG today but I thought Angus and Ed were much more influential. Brayshaw was brilliant.

I love your team too!!!

Excellent win. We played good footy especially in the first half and when the saints played well we were able to hold.

Yeah probably the next 2 weeks.

GWS gave up. Richmond would have been a belting if we kicked straight.

Why didn't you tell em you were going to go around to their flats and burn them all down.😇

Great win! Saints have looked really good at times this year and Never really came close to us, even with their momentum in the third quarter (two goals to our one).

Really looking forward to seeing how Salem fits back in the team when he's fit. Gus down back is playing career best football (may've played a career best game today) while Jordan keeps improving on the wing. Good problem to have!

For those who were watching closely, did St Kilda ever try to shut down Langdon? Seems like they just let him do as he pleased which was surprising considering the effectiveness of Hawthorn's tagging efforts last week.

Has any team ever gone through the Afl/Vfl season undefeated? Im pretty sure not..Do we look at this as motivational?? (not that we should need any).

Should we engineer a loss?!! (yes im kidding, i think)

.....oh the extraordinary problems of a top side.

Damn. I wish I sat nearby. I would’ve had a lot of fun with that mob.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
