GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Richmond

I think we'll just have to accept the goal kicking boots just aren't on tonight, so we'll have to win this ugly. Well, uglier then it's already been anyway.

Can't wait to never talk about this game after the win.

Our percentage at this rate will hardly change

Ill take the win

Our goal kicking is beyond bad. This game should be done and dusted.

Still kicked 5-7 but at least been have a lead. Hopefully we get a run on in the final quarter & kick more goals than behinds

Hunt really dumb coming inside there.  Had plenty of time to stop prop and try & hit a target.  Instead the red veil continues.

Tracc pretty much the same from 50 in the clear earlier

Should be 80 points up….I wish!

We’ll if it wasn’t for those 19 points we’d only be up by 2.

10-20 frees our way. So expect the mother of all even ups this last quarter.

The stats are showing that we are making a total mockery of them. This should literally be a 50 point lead. Need to kick at least 3 in this last quarter, just need to do enough and we're off.

Jeez Weideman would want to do something decent in the last.

Surely he doesn't have many goat photos left?

I am waiting for someone to say he's got 2 goals so he's one of our best

Fritta blasted trac for blazing away at the goals

Too many selfish shots on goal

Yep we are 10 goals up except we can’t kick for goal.

Better in that quarter, but there is a reason to be concerned.

I am concerned about some of the more selfish shots on goal. Instinctive football is one thing but this reminds me a bit of the Collingwood loss last year when everyone was trying to bring about 'the play' to spark the team. We were all so interested in being 'the hero' we ended up kicking ourselves out of the game.

The thing about this game for my eyes, we have had total domination across the vast majority of the game except for a few very short periods of time. This is a 15 goal win that will likely only be a few goals due to poor kicking. Don’t let the score be misleading

Richmond are nowhere near us in quality. Miles away. Yet they’re actually still in the game. If it weren’t so disturbing, it’d be funny.

Not sure you can blame Weid with the ball coming in. It's been atrocious. And he still has two and has competed strongly in the air.

Smith a liability defensively. No time for him whatsoever.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
