Obviously the injuries we have aren't great.

But kudos to the recruiting team. I look at each line and all the players can play decent footy or better, we don't have to bring in the "might be okay" players and hope for the best*

*Smith and Hunt do raise my blood pressure a bit sometimes, but a premiership helps with that a great deal 😈

Welcome back Riv, the very obvious inclusion for Salo
Just fantastic that we have the depth to cover injuries that, in the recent past, would have rendered us vulnerable.

Wasn't convinced with Hunt last week, I was by Smith but I guess we are playing GC who will be quite quick.

Good selections and it continues Goodwin's apparent policy of keeping the team settled as much a possible.

We now have 3 of the premiership defenders back out of the 7 that won the big one. the defence looks solid as long as they keep their structure and systems. plus they will have the experience together of last week to build on.

Lever back in next week?

Midfield looks great as does the forward 50 group. A very attacking interchange group with a flexible tall Ruck/Forward, a small Forward and a couple of mids that can cover inside and out.

if a small defender goes down we might be thin but we do have Tmac to swing back there if required with one of the taller defenders required to play smaller.

Dees by 5...... goals

Empirical evidence suggests otherwise. Wonder boy didn’t raise a beep.

I thought Hunt was very solid. Nullified Weightman and mopped up well, especially in the first half. Did his job.

Strong side Riv back in which is great to take over Salem's role we should lose too much with Rivers in and Salem out. Surprised not to see M.Brown in the emergencies played a lot better than Melksham 4 goals is a fair effort.

I suspect M Brown doesn't make the emergencies because of the Weid...who is primarily there as an emergency should one of Gawn or Jackson not be available on game day. But if a tall forward has to be replaced, I assume Weid has that covered, too.

I'm more interested in who comes in should we need to replace a defender before the game. After all, there has been some suggestion that Smith may have a hand injury. Would Bedford come in but someone else (Brayshaw? Harmes?) play in the backline with Bedford taking on their role?

This is a bit harsh on Hunt.

He got involved, spoiling, picking up possessions, tackling, two way running. He did enough to retain his spot.

Would have much rathered Dunstan if it is wet which also provides us with rotational grunt at stoppages and freshens up mids for next weeks game vs Injectiondon. Dunstan for Bedford would have been my call.

Bedford's out of the starting 22.

Dunstan can still yet replace Bedford as the designated sub.

Dunstan made the trip.  Sighted boarding bus. Possible medi-sub.

Would like to see this eventuate!

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
