Haven’t overpaid. Gus has taken significantly less than what he would have gotten elsewhere. He got ALOT of interest and some really good offers.

Great to hear. Good on him.

Will never doubt you again Gus

As I saw it, Gus was THE poster boy for a selfless club. 3rd in a brownlow playing in the middle, then makes way fr the 3 demon bulls and plays both defensive wing and HBF. Excelling at both.  Losing Jackson may be the bigger loss on field in time but in terms of the culture and many intangibles Gus was irreplaceable. I’m stoked.

Celebrate your own re-signing Jacko!

No stress mate :) just playing the game. I know for a fact players sign and sometimes it’s not announced for an extended period, it’s all a timing and marketing game for clubs but the players know

So Jackson signed 3 months ago right?.... Right?

This is unreal.

I’ve always thought he had good character. Sincere apologies for starting to doubt it.

This is a super important signature for the club, particularly from a cultural perspective. I’m absolutely stoked.

Now, let’s bring this (premier)ship into port.

As an aside, I think it’s the right decision for him too - he would’ve been crazy to leave this club at this stage of the club’s journey and at this point in his own career.

He’ll become a club legend now.

I don’t really understand what he said in the media a couple of days ago though - pretty bizarre given today’s fantastic announcement.

If the Gus wants a media profile.  He needs another premiership or three.   Let’s go get one

If he turns into another Dermott Brereton, I can do without the premierships.

Stupid contract.

We’ll be paying him to podcast or play for someone else way before it’s done.

One paced, can’t kick, can’t man up. What are we thinking?

A panic move by the club because they’re sad LJ is leaving.

“Look at me, I’m so different and quirky for having this opinion!”

Would have been absolutely shocked if Gus left - great to see him stick with the mighty Dees

Coniglio has turned things around this year, but the Giants will lose young talent due to his contract.

It’s a shame. He’s a great bloke too, good leader.

And if it was in isolation it might be ok but they have Whitfield, Kelly, Greene and Coniglio on $900+. Essentially, we pay less for Oliver, Petracca, May, and Gawn.

He’s not in the 20 best back flankers according to the afl player ratings. He can’t kick. He can’t man up.

He’s in AA contention via the media, many of whom happen to be close family friends.

He looked great against rubbish sides who kicked it to him. Not sure he’s had more than one coaches vote over the last two months.

You're seriously trolling. What exactly do you mean by "he can't man up?" His defensive work has been impeccable this year. There have been numerous games where he's saved multiple goals with his intercept marking.

And your claim that he only performs against "rubbish sides" is just wrong. He was among our best in our win against Brisbane and in our losses to Collingwood and Geelong. He could've easily won the award on the Queen's Birthday.

Your contempt for some of the players is simply too much.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
