Really can't work out where the "speculators" are coming from here.

What exactly would Brayshaw be moving for if he decided to leave?

Is he unhappy with his position in the side? If he is, is it about playing in the middle/on ball to get more kicks? Just can't see it myself. It's not as if he is fringe and is looking for a regular spot. He would be one of the top 10 picked and can play in just about every role except K.P.

If it's not money or family (and his folks live in Melb) what on earth could it be?

I reckon he will stay. Be interesting to see if Tim Lamb and co have done the sums correctly.

W.A go home factor: 1-1, thus far = Tingay stayed, Farmer went. I am putting down Big Bob Johnson and Hassa Mann as irrelevant, they didn't go home they just went.

We got Mitch Clark who was going home  to Freo until we 'stole' him from under their noses

Wonder if Brayshaw is out looking at property in Peppermint Grove this morning...🤷‍♂️

Good interview on the "Dyl and Friends" Podcast,  Gus says he loves the club and the boys.  and that its nothing, always a beat up over contract talks.  he didn't commit to the Dees but says how much he loves it there.

Gus is my favorite player but he is never going to get the role he like at the Dees.  Trac and Oliver in the midfield over him and sadly when Salem comes back he loses the back line role he has been playing too.  so it wouldn't be crazy to think he may want better opportunity especially if it comes with $$$ as he is on a good contract atm and i can't see the Dees being able to go above that or even able to match it again.

Time will tell and hopefully he stays

Angus will play a key role on the ground wherever he plays. I really like his role in defence this year, it is as pivotal as a midfielder.
i hope Gus realizes this. He is a core player

When Salem comes back, I still want Brayshaw playing in defence. Hunt can go. Hunt is much improved but Brayshaw is playing so well in defence.

I still have faint hopes that Hibberd can come in and be the small forward blanket which is what will be extra important against Brisbane who have the best small forwards in the league.

Hunt is now playing the small lockdown defender role and doing a great job, highlights being blanketing AA level Bolton and Higgins. On form and role, he’s locked in the 22. Rivers would be the one to make way for Salem on 2022 form.

Unless you were to play Salem in the middle or up the ground to improve our connection forward.

Tim Gossage (who knows the Brayshaws) reckons Brayshaw would like to live in WA where his brothers and grand parents live.

However his girlfriend is dead against a move.

😂 How the hell would he know?

But someone still has to be dropped from the 22?  Who goes out:  JJ, Sparrow?  Can't see it.

Salem in, Rivers the medi-sub.

Sounds like something you'd like to do once you're retired.

I think in the end it will be about family or staying with the club he loves. Doesn't strike me as a pure $ guy.

Makes sense to delay it to see if he can snag another flag. Maybe he'll hang in here with us with the lure of pulling off a trifecta then?

He was the rock in the grand final last year when we were challenged and his season has been fantastic this year. Makes sense to shut the noise out and sort it out at the end of the year.

Just love the bloke.

I still don’t understand the family comment, his Mum and Dad live in Melbourne and they also host lots of the Melbourne first and 2nd year players.   The family pull is not the reason he will leave.

True, im not saying i have the answer, all i am saying is it might not be as simple as we think.

There is no way to really tell unless you are on the inside and Salem like Brayshaw is open to a move/challenge.

Oh cool. I didn't realise. I thought they were out west.

Scrap my last comment. That's good news.

With other dominoes falling (Spargo) we look like we know what we have to play around with. I choose to take it as a positive.

For what it’s worth, Tom Browne said today that he thinks the Jackson/Brayshaw deals are linked in the sense of if Melbourne pay Jackson, then it’ll drop the amount they can offer Brayshaw and he’ll then take that Freo money…but who knows…

Clearly Tom Browne hasn’t read out contracts thread….

What Browne says is worth nothing, wouldn't know jacks*it.

For what it’s worth, I say today that I think the Tom Browne/Jackass comparisons are linked in the sense that both know jackshyte about what they are braying about

I like Tom Browne.

When he has explosive news like this I tend to stand up and take note.

[censored] the haters Tommy boy.

A quick summary of the first 18 pages.

Reasons stay

1. Chance of a Dees dynasty

2. happy wife / happy life. They’ll get married I’m sure but same rules apply for GF.

3. Golfing Mecca (RMGC, Peninsula etc). Only golfing tragics will understand why this places so high. I contemplated putting this at #2 but he is not married yet.

4. Family is here (albeit this could also go in the reasons to go)

5. Gets to play different roles (let’s face it in the common workplace doing the same thing week in / week out , is usually reason to go) - cheeky I know

6. in the leadership group. Future Captain after Max ?

Reasons to Go

1. More $$$

2. Get to play inside mid. It’s never a guarantee. We all know what happened to Howe.

3. Get to play with bro.  Only if a deal with Freo can be reached.

Not sure if I missed anything.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
