Was going to say Chris Heffernan and Gary Moorcroft, but they're premiership players.

ROBERT ALAN FLOWER......

DAYLIGHT AND..... THERE IS NO ONE ELSE🤩

I've already gone with Robbie...

...but I'm imagining Gary Hardeman in that defence off a back flank.

Would be extremely fit in today's game and have a highlight package up with or even better than Howe.

A lot of his big grabs were never caught on camera, but I remember one of the greatest grabs he took at the 'G'...up on the pack and lying on it when the mark stuck.

edit: think of the one Ablett dropped but got paid it, well Hardeman didn't drop it....

This is a hard one.

Whelan would slot nicely into that backline.

Neitz in his prime would also be tasty.

Yze would own the opposite wing to langdon as well as fit in anywhere as needed.

Think I have to go with Yze for the modern game.

The can’t have won a flag criteria may count Ronald Dale out of this discussion, particularly as he has 10. Isn’t having ten premierships to your name just extraordinary. Mind blowing really

Gerard Healy, Scully and Scott Thompson then play them at Casey.

(Turns out the flag didn't do as much for forgiveness as I thought...)

Jimmy Stynes as much for his off field stuff as much as his on field stuff.

As much as i loved Schwartz or Jakovich in their prime, or any number of others, it’s impossible not to pick Robbie. Best I’ve ever seen play …from any club.

Flower, just so I could see him live and judge for myself. Second, and it is close, would be Jurrah.

I'm a big believer that had both Jeff Farmer and Scott Thompson stayed I think we could have gotten close to a flag in the 2004-2006 period.

Farmer was still playing some really good footy and 2006 he was still able to kick 55 goals. His best form was obviously with Melbourne, and I truly think he would have played better footy had he stayed at Melbourne.

When Thompson joined Adelaide in 2005 he had a break out injury free year and kicking 27 goals as a midfielder/forward. He had just as good of a year in 2006 as well from a statistic point of view.

Flower.

Flower was consistently brilliant in State games , esp with the talent around him (which only amplified his class)

So Imagine how good he would be in this 2021 Flag side.  Pencil him in for the Norm Smith.

Many on here refer to how "...good so and so would be oppsoite Ed Langdons wing...". (esp Robbie F)

We have the Robbie Flower wing (MCC side) at the G, but at games we now talk about the Ed Langdon wing (AFL Stand side).

He's made it his own, and as he's admitted as he doesn't come off during games he doesn't need to play on the side closer to the bench.  Good for efficiency of team rotations too.

This thread needs to be modified. It's too easy at the moment. It needs to be more challenging as befits our standing as current Premier. I'd like to see people nominate who they'd bring back PLUS whose spot they take in the Premiership 22 (ie, ignore the sub). And try to be objective - that is, imagine you're picking the team before the Grand Final so it's not based on how players performed in the GF.

For me Flower is the additional player. (No hesitation there). That would mean one of Brayshaw or Langdon need to be moved. I think Brayshaw takes Sparrow's or Hibberd's spot. Probably Hibberd's, given he's successfully played half-back before.

Excellent suggestion, and execllent move for Gus to Half back.

                           Centreline:                  Flower    -    Oliver/Petracca     -    Langdon.   Wow!

Got hung out to dry and needed a body but Morton could have been a decent player.

We were just a rabble at the time
