Christian Salem. Any early news? One of our keys. Really hope it’s not too serious.

And Jake Levers late withdrawal??

Still sore after ruptured plantar fascia. Hoping to be right by next week.

Minor procedure and has escaped significant damage. Great news.

Sounds similar to what T-Mac had in 2019. He went off after kicking six goals against the Blues. It ended his season but there were only about six games left of a train wreck of a year.

Give him plenty of time to recover

He is one of the impossible to replace guys

Thanks Bont!
We shall not forget.

Good news that it's not an ACL or another sort of long-term injury.

Still, albeit with no medical background at all, I'd imagine this is a 6-week injury at a minimum.

T Mac tore his meniscus that day.

Funny (not funny) that he finally played a ripping game that year and then his season was over.

As for Salem, 6 weeks or under is a good result here. Rather he out at the start of the year than the business end.

yes agreed. chipped cartilage not strained??

what’s the likely scenario?

a./  career ending possible amputation.

b./ season ending

c./ 12 weeks plus. Back in for finals

d./ 4-6 ( which safely covers all of the above)

e./ @Webber

I fully expect the club to claim that the injury is in no way connected to his knee injury from the practice match the previous week. Whether that's true or not.

Unless he went into the game with chipped cartilege, sounds like a new injury?

Will definitely be a big loss but as they say: one soldier goes down and another one comes in.

I understand that there is a large gulf in experience, power and size between them but we should feel very pleased we have Jake Bowey in the backline. He really assists with clean disposal and clear-headed decision making from the backline...not saying that he fully covers the hole left by Salem going out but his quick development to date really helps

Yup, I remember it well. Carlton charged back and hit the front, only a game saving booming goal from Hunty near the end got us over the line. Isn't cartilage and meniscus the same thing? I've got meniscal tears in each of my knees but the last surgeon I saw didn't want to trim them lest it leave bone rubbing against bone which would be worse.

Keyhole type surgery, expect him to be mobile day 1, weight bearing day 2.  Prob a week to get back to full running and another 2 to get back fitness. Guess 3-4 weeks
