So much potential, just so clean.

Fantastic pick up by JT once again.

Well done son.

Burgo said its a 2 year extension, isn't it a 3 year?

Was already contracted for 2022

I could be wrong but did I see Andy Moniz-Wakefield in #41 and Blake Howes in #22 in that video?

Seems that way but often the new guys start off in jumpers that fit them based on their previous owners before the new seasons training gear arrives.

Would be surprised if Woey isn’t in the 22.

get in my belly!!

Here's to revisiting this thread at the end of 2024 with Bowie on 82 straight wins.

Calm, skilled, and a whole lot tougher than he looks. He developed from a draftee to an AFL premiership player in 12 months and is locked in until 2024. Well done Dees, and well done Bowser.

It took Jack Viney 39 matches over three seasons to notch up 7 wins.
Timing is everything!

If it wasn't for Jack Viney's years of hard work, Bowser wouldn't be 7 from 7 and a premiership player.

Another JT gem ! A very impressive young footballer who looks every inch a 200 gamer for us. Incredibly brave and skilful and now a Premiership player after only 7 games. Ballsy decision by the selection panel to go with Bowza in the finals. Looking forward to a great 2022 from him.

based on his first seven games, should be raging hot favourite for rising star winner in 2022

It’s funny but you’d think for most kids, with less than 10 games under their belt, they would merely be hoping to cement their place in the side. Later to perhaps win a rising star nomination maybe even win it .
For Jake though he got his nom in his 3rd game and a premiership medal four games later. You’d imagine the rising star award would mean less to him than most. You are right though WSW he would have to be a favourite for the 2022 award.

Really happy for Jake. I have known him from him playing golf at Brighton Golf Club for the last couple of years. Haven't seen him since but would love to catch up for a chat. Not sure if he knows I follow the Dee's. He will be left in no doubt when I see him.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
