GO DEES

Source?

(Indeed; GO DEES)

We have asked for it and it's a brilliant idea!!! Rubbing there noses in it, golly I think playing the song in the middle of the ground post game was rubbing there noses in it.

MCG?

Non-negotiable.

It seems as if some of our supporters on here are worried that we will lose if we play the GF replay as our season opener.

Why?

The AFL is averse to playing GF replays  in round 1, so while it may happen it’s no certainty.

Would be a fantastic way to open the season though- Our first Friday night game at the G since 2019.

It will give the Bulldogs a chance.

To humiliate themselves.

well, going on round 1 this year we were lucky we didn't come up against a good side

first game of season is always hard to find instant form

The Dees are in the entertainment business, the bulltish Blues v Tigs hasn’t been entertaining for years. Let’s hope it’s another fizzer and a huge number tune in/go on the Friday (if we get the game that is). Great concept G Pert!

A win or loss is immaterial. Great way to reward supporters/ sponsors all the while getting a huge financial windfall for Club.

The AFL is not averse to $. They have hemorrhaged money for 2 years, the sooner they can get money flowing in the better. With the right weather there will be 90000 at the game. Double vacced of course.

GO DEES

I’d rather not play them. I’d rather a team we were almost certain to beat being that it’s the first time we have raised the flag since 1965 and I don’t want anything to spoil the night.

We have had a dream season but we still don’t beat teams we are certain to beat often enough. Better a tough game with players fired up by the occasion and opposition.

I know but this is the toughest opponent possible

Embrace the challenge.

Well, we gotta play them sometime so let's get it done so we can own them for another 3 months. It'll also mean that we'll be all over the media in the lead up to the new season with our game likely to overshadow the warm up act on the Thursday night.

Yep love it

Lots

so the club has guaranteed we don't travel round 1

play a team with similar preparation as us to start the season

a packed MCG to unfurl the flag, possibly 90K+

and they get the $$$ in early just in case covid rears its ugly head again later in the season

I don't know I kind of feel weird playing the dogs. It's like we will already give them extra motivation afterall they will want revenge obviously. Also I'm sorry but if the situation was the other way around and we lost, I would hate to sit there as a fan watching them raise the premiership flag. I couldn't stomach it and the dogs fans aren't that bad.

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
