We lost as soon as he decided to leave.

Happy with the trade.

We should move this thread back to the main board and change the title to

'Deathride Fremantle'

Any auction you need two bidders, and we had one.

F the West.

MFCs won more flags in Perth than either team EVER will... ;)

Bedford ... the fact that he couldn't get a game in 2022 doesn't mean that that would always be the case.

Poor outcome for MFC.

Agree. Toby would have got Senior games next year. I am disappointed to lose him at this point in his career

Players taken with pick 12/13 in recent years:

Kozzi Pickett, Will Day, Butters, Quaynor

can get good players

We blinked.  In a game of poker, we decided it was time to go to the bar and so we folded.  Time will decide the winner and loser but for now, we seem to have got unders in the LJ trade.

Hopefully we lost that hand in order to win the game. Let’s see what happens now.

History tells me that we tend to complete these trades for unders, only to end up with a net gain over the remainder of the trade period and through the draft. Fingers crossed that's the case again this year.

I don’t mind the trade. Not perfect but something to work with.

Two first rounders and a second rounder is unprecedented for a player that has just come off a poor season, and to not have to give up a second rounder.

Sure, if he had a great season we should be getting a top 10 pick but the point is he didn’t and potential is a dirty word. Luke Jackson is potential at this stage.

Here’s to a productive Tuesday and Wednesday by the club.

History tells me fans complain about us taking "unders" or paying "overs" with every major trade we've completed in the past 10 years. They're nearly always wrong.

[censored] people need to relax.

Nobody has any idea what the final analysis will look like so what is the point of complaining about specific draft picks.

We got our haul and watch what happens either at the end of Wednesday night or next year if we decide to keep a our future first rounder, (which I think we will).

If we manage to use 13, 27 and some other selections to move into the top 6 or 7 this year and then have two first rounders for next year to play with at a stronger draft, you can't not be excited about what that will look like.

As so many calm heads have already stated, we have no idea what the ramifications would be if we'd dug our heels in any longer. We've got it done clearly so we can concentrate on the myriad of opportunities that now lie ahead for this draft.

How about we wait until Wednesday night to reassess eh?

How about we wait for about 5 years and see what we got out of Jacko Toby and 3rd and fourth rounders!
Remember we have a 13 ( reckon we will upgrade that with GWS or Gold Coast or another Club looking for points by Wed night) future 1st and 2nd rounders from Freo who will do well to be SIXTH  next season.

Plus we still haven't touched 27 which should go to Pies with a future 3rd rounder or the like and we get Grundy.

AND THE REAL DEAL is 3 selections for 3 A orB grade footballers which we have no idea how good they may be but we will back our List Managers to get the best for the Club.

WE GAVE AWAY in between A possible A Grade Generational Star and dynamic forward OR an average bits and pieces ex basketballer who is not up for an extensive career in the grind of AFL and hangs out with mates more than he should. Bedford is a chance of improving but again we don't know his pace is his weapon and the two picks of 44 and 67 could yield Tom Gillies or Tommmy Mac Donald (or even Oscar.).

Just the same as we claim the jury is still out on the Kelly pick with Salo Hunty and whatever, I reckon in 5 years time we will know a lot more who won etc.

If we win a flag or two in the time very few of us will even worry as long as Freo or GWS don't beat us in aFinal in the time in between!!

We have 3 picks from 1 st and 2 Nd round which we should be excited about, with 2 next year in a very strong predicted draft plus our 1st rounder so let's get excited about that!!

Too many D/Lers are like Dodoro and think we can WIN every trade without knowing who our chips that we will be playing with are and how they will develop.

In JT and Crew we  trust .

Let’s see if Jackson returns the same courtesy to us with a nice thank you.

Class and style MFC Of which some D/L ers are born without.

Let's  just think of that 3rd quarter in the GF and know we are the winner for having  Jacko as a member of that fabulous 23 and that can NEVER EVER be taken off his CV or highlight reel.

Thank you Dogga and good luck Toby.

Couldn’t get a game in 19, 20 or 21 either. Pick 44 is fair. Spinning that value in to part of a future 2nd that could produce a very good player is even better.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
