I wonder if we could have been a bit more clever and have had an agreement with Jackson when he was yet to make a decision and sign him up to two with a guarantee to trade him if that's what he decided (which he did). It would have given us some more leverage. I think this could have been one instance given the circumstances where it could have worked?? The AFL would probably come out and say that we weren't playing in the true spirit of a contract.

Can't hold a mark, not a ruckmans boot stops and isn't particularly aggressive even though he's mobile with great ground ball abilities. Either over rated or a huge upside ...and Bedford's gone probably Kossie next season if the traditional bland response from the Club is on form. Right now my emotion is disappointed purely the fact that everything Tim Lamb had said from a stern and honest point of view is the opposite to what has happened. Probably why there's a sense of anger and frustration with Melbourne supporters it seem reading social media. Expect any List manager to talk a big game but at the end of the day Lamb had one arm tied behind his back in terms of what we could get in return.
October 10, 20223 yr We were never going to win this trade. Jackson is a star and Freo had no incentive to offer more than 70 cents in the dollar.
October 10, 20223 yr 4 minutes ago, Jaded No More said: How do we get the Grundy deal done then? And who would take picks 13 and 27 for pick 6? Grundy will come, it'll be 27 and a swap of picks I imagine if Collingwood don't accept 27. But that trade is easy and in the peripheral. There are so many possibilities for us to move up, it's ridiculous. You've just gotta trust that we've got a plan and there are still a couple of players who may go in Weed and Thomo which will bring in further picks for swapping etc. Every year we seem to be able to hit our target of moving up the draft and on the back of our reputation of being easy to deal with, I can't see how we're not going to be able to do that given we've agreed to the Jackson trade and there are still two days left.

Wed need to use Freo F1 and 13 this year to chase Cadman if the opportunity is there otherwise I’d bank F1 as well for next year. So is WC prepared to that deal with us and will Norf trump us or give their pick to GWS. Sounds like Cadman has really moved up the draft order and is a possibility for pick 1. October 10, 20223 yr Not feeling great about this. A [censored] end to the season and a [censored] trade period. I’d like not to think about them until February.

We should have received a better result from the Dockers for Luke Jackson. I feel we have been screwed over. I think we should be asking for a full explanation from Tim Lamb and the rest of the MFC list management staff as we definitely didn't get a fair trade from Fremantle for a extremely talented individual who is a 2021 Melbourne Demons Premiership player who helped turn the game to defeat the Western Bulldogs and is a 2021 Norwich Rising Star Award Winner. Just not good enough in my opinion. Don’t blame Tim Lamb. We had a bad Poker hand to begin with. Jackson was out of contract. Freo should have been forced to come up with better picks to close the deal. They are forever Filth going forward

October 10, 20223 yr It’s done! Finally! Bring on the draft and let’s move into 2023. Freo got a good deal, but also gave everything that they had to give; those expecting more were always going to be disappointed. For all the talk, it really did turn out that he was always going to Fremantle and they knew it. Asides from letting him go to the PSD, the club did everything it could.
October 10, 20223 yr Not great not bad, we got everything they have picks wise from Freo so unless they trade more players for picks that was it. We could always try combining them in to pick 2 with WC but I assumed freo already tried. Edited October 10, 20223 yr by Garbo

October 10, 20223 yr We blinked. In a game of poker, we decided it was time to go to the bar and so we folded. Time will decide the winner and loser but for now, we seem to have got unders in the LJ trade.
