Absolutely love this mentality.

It's the same way I feel about May in particular. I think it would have been far more powerful to see him stay with the GCFC and go down in history as their first flag winning skipper.

Oh yeah I would simply love to Watch The AFL Franchaise win a Flag that nobody cares about, instead of The Demons break the drought!!

I'm glad for us he didn't.

But it feels like dew is building a culture where their guns will want to stay.

I really hope so, because It’s important the suns become a contender.

Jacko in Melbourne with his Team manager from Perth and MFC List Manager. Get it done boys.

Fact or rumour @Redleg?

perhaps it’s all coincidental with the timing of his injury?

anyway I see it playing out like this

Why?

They are a manufactured team with no history, hardly any supporters and the supporters of other clubs couldn’t give a stuff about them. The AFL has gifted them a really good list, a couple of times, but we got nothing when we were struggling. So for the sake of TV rights they have done whatever they could to give them success

As a Melbourne supporter, why is is important they are a contender?

Would you be happy to see them beat us in a GF.

Anyone with a kid that's wants to send Dogga $10 note and a cute handwritten note asking him stay - I seem to recall that working on Chris Grant in the 90s (could be someone else but it worked then)

I'm pretty sure a kid did the same with Chip Frawley. It was $5 in a card and they found it in his locker after he'd cleared off.

Well we have been told his Manager would be in Melbourne this weekend by media sources and I think someone on DL.

We know Jacko stayed in Melbourne.

I assume our List Manager is in Melbourne.

Hopefully a slight strain, needing a week's rest if you are being cautious.

Allows time to do other things, like discussing your contract.

Yeah was reported on SEN a few days ago his manager was flying in this week to meet with the club

Who knows what this means - everything can get done on a phone/email/ teams meeting - no need for face to face.... unless they feel the need to put some heat on in person - anyones guess why

Maybe they want to partake in the champagne that'll be popped when Jackson's signature hits the contract.

Or unless some papers need signing and witnessing by Manager and this can't be done electronically. (although these days counterparts can be signed remotely.  Maybe its the theatre of the thing?

Off-topic a little but can I remind everyone we have 2 games in 6 days with interstate travel and a bus trip to the cattery. Perhaps his knee injury won't stand up to 2 games in quick succession. Which game would you prefer he played? Adelaide or Cats! Even max may be better off waiting as we have a long break post the Geelong game.

I think if you wanted to leave your manager wouldn’t fly in for talks. You would just say email us your offer and we will consider it and then keep stalling.

This does sound a little promising.

But then again!

An alternate theory is that perhaps we think way, way more about Dogga’s contract than Dogga does. He does seem pretty happy go lucky. Perhaps he has only just become aware that his not signing is a thing and is going to now get it sorted?

No way would I do contract negotiations any way other than face to face

You have to feel the room and the moment and look into the eyes

I'm sure Jacko will stay on good money and a couple more premierships

That’s it the 50 minute bus trip to The Cattery 😉

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
