Might be a good time to get the deal done soon and with Jacko to come out and say how much he respects the Coach and has learned from him.

On reflection it might be why he is yet to re sign Mr. Leg.

Depending on the size of the wager you could be spot on.

Heard a whisper that he going to sign in the near future for a further 2 years.

Heard it via a friend who usually has good mail.

We shall see........

Hope the Eagles focus all their attention and money on securing English.

Well, implicit in that headline is, who they are not chasing, and for what reasons.

Best in the comp? You must have missed the Champion Data rankings

No surprises there. I predicted a 2 year extension some time ago.

Would be a silly move to sign for longer when we all know he will just get better.

I am hoping Oliver signs a long term deal now that he's heading towards free agency.

We just saw why he isn't elite ... :)

I think there should be a category above elite where a players like Oliver and Petracca could be ranked.

The grading like A B and C have been used by people like Gary Buckenara there should be an A+, A-, B+, B-, C+ and C-

Then players like Gawn and Jackson would be ranked properly.

Every time a new term for an high level player or skill is coined, it slowly loses its meaning as its definition is softened more an more. It used to be 'excellent', 'brilliant' and 'star', until people were using those terms for every hack that played more than 15 games in a year.

'Elite' didn't exist as a rating 10 years ago, and it probably won't be used in 10 years' time as someone will popularise a term that is even higher than elite to define players that even surpass the level of .... *checks notes* .... Jack Scrimshaw.

Yeah, like use of the term "hero". Even someone who runs a supermarket is a "local hero".

The classification 'elite' would have to be the most meaningless segmenting of players in any comp anywhere in the world.

Yes he is elite for his age and experience and was in the last half of the GF plus about 5 other games.

He is elite in his age group by winning the 2021 Rising Star !!

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
