That is not quite correct. A few weeks ago a fortune teller came into the Salvo's store that I volunteer at and offered to read my palm and she said I followed a team that wore red and blue colours and there was a tall black haired player who had played around 30 games, andย  was about 20 years of age that came from the west of Australia and that he would remain at the club for many years to come. True story.

These "fortune tellers", tarot readers, etc, are actually skilled at what is called "cold reading", whereby knowingly or unknowingly, they are picking up on subtle clues that you (usually unwittingly) give away to them, such as wearing a Melbourne jumper, having number 6 on the back of the jumper, and saying "God, I hope our young dark-haired ruckman doesn't go back to Perth."

I read somewhere that Jacko is now sporting a few extra ink pics following the GF. One way to check if he is going or staying is to check the tats. If he has a demon tat, heโ€™s staying. If not, there will be no contract extension. Simple.

He is a high-character kid, and I think he genuinely values his friendship/partnership with Gawny and as long as Gawny is at the club, Dogga will be there too. Hopefully by the time Max retires, Jacko will be fully entrenched in MFC culture and Melbourne city living - I don't think he's going anywhere, for years at least.

Crossing everything I got. No doubting the guy's first preference is to be at MFC for a long time, if they make it happen it will be something to behold.

Meanwhile, Sam Walsh signs on for 4 years at Carlton, taking him to FA

And Quaynor signs for 3 at Piesย

Just trade him for the eight 1st round picks and be done with itย

Get Dogga's signature long term and lock in Clarry beyond next year and our core is sorted. We'd challenge for the next 5 years if we can keep the core of this list together.

Cmon Jacko sign on. You know you want to play for the best team going around ;)ย

Maybe he and Goody are working on a joint deal with another club?

WCE would be their best bet then. They'd have the most experience in that.

Walsh eyeing off a spot in the Melbourne midfield once Viney gets into his 30's.ย

The reality is Luke while a gun in the making still has a lot of development to go through before going to another club for big $$$. He would be far better off for his own good signing on for a least another 2 years if not the RFA.

Its way easier to perform in a top side like the Dees with the likes of Gawn and our mids than with a rebuilding team without a Gawn.

I am tipping his management will advise him to stay while at the same time negotiating a good deal.ย

When Barassi left Melbourne to go to Carlton I was a kid and I cried for days. If Clayton Oliver went anywhere but Melbourne Id cry for years.

I will tell Luke and his management you said that.

Maybe a tad misguided, butย If he ever leftโ€ฆ.image.gif.7db2df83362639dab9ca7e4b3ffb20d8.gif

Completely disagree DMย

To lose one ย of your players you st RV building a dynasty and to be ready to take over from Maxy roiled be hard to take.ย
One crazy Demonlander ( he will know who he is/was) posted a similar sentiment after we lost a game in 2020 ( or it may have been 2019) saying we round get XXX on the trade for Clarry.

As events have proved there is only ONE Clarry and he is so special he just may be our greatest player ever ( if Trac doesn't claim it). Some players are harder to replace than others and we know why. No one comes near their best and they are match winners! They take over games and NO ONE can challenge them. Eg The Granny.

Yes Clarry has solved his issues with handball and disposal etc. and is now the elite player who he always ย looked he would become. Maximum impact and ferocious attack on the ball with an over the top attitude NOT TO LOSE.

He often goes his hardest in the last quarter but to be fair it's all the time.

So saying 2 picks will replace Dogga is far too simplistic he is special and a champion who wins games already with his unique competitive style Great ball skills and pace that 199cm players don't have and his team first attitude plus he rarely if ever fumbles.ย

We don't know how it will be if we have to replace Dogga ( like Clarry) but you don't know how valuable he is until you don't have him!!

Thats why Eagles were bloody lucky they got Josh Kennedy for Judd but that's rare rather than the norm.ย

Completely agree!ย

certainly not a given that we would be adequately compensated for the value of Jacko if he wanted to go home

ย

West Coast have a lot of players entering their twilight years. They donโ€™t have a great deal of youth coming through. MFC club on the other hand, we have a dynasty looking list right now. It may not end up that way, but Jackson would be weighing up the present. Heโ€™d have to be very homesick to consider leaving MFC. I donโ€™t see it happening.ย

ย

Lemme say this.
If he buys a house in Perth I won't be confident he's gonna stay.

Might be a good time to get the deal done soon and with Jacko to come out and say how much he respects the Coach and has learned from him.
