How important was Maxys goal?!

huge

People on here are downplaying Port. They are on tonight and I'm very glad we avoided this game.

Geelong are looking ordinary due to the immense pressure being applied.

Port have not stopped running all night.

And I think 2 and 9 first week of finals

1-8 in the first week of finals since 2011, including five straight years of making the finals and losing the first final.

Gee Powell-Pepper was a great medical sub, came on and impacted right away.

Perfect scenario would be giants knock of the swans then knock out the cats next week and the giants players say to Jermey Cameron stuff you.

Be a colossal stuff up by Port if they somehow didn’t make the GF for here.

They cocked it up last year when they got the ride of home games, won the first final and hosted a side who'd been hubbing all year.

But clearly we do not want to lose tomorrow and be sent to their prelim.

So this will mean Geelong is now 6-14 in finals since the 2011 flag.

I think since 2012 they have lost 8 out of 9 in week 1 of finals. And they've had a couple straight set exits as well (with another to come this year by the looks of it)

The whole medical sub thing is an absolute crock. Fantasia basically saying "I could have played but we had a fresh guy there." It's not what the medisub is for, and the AFL shouldn't be putting players in the uncomfortable position of trying to justify why they took no further part in the game.

Hawkins being chaired off - is he retiring?

I'm glad people will start talking up Port now. takes the spotlight away from us

Extraordinary finals level pressure from Port…..all 4 quarters. That’s what’s required, and they will be in the Grand Final. Geelong nowhere near it. Take note Dees, gotta be a 4 quarter game. As good as we are, Gold Coast game aside, we haven’t played 4 quarters pretty much all season. Do it tomorrow.

Except for our best performance of the year, when we beat Port Adelaide.

Not enough injuries.

Glad we dodged the Port bullet.

Totally unfair to have teams have no Home Ground advantage but QLD and SA teams do. Should have both Prelims in Perth / especially since GF will be there.

Geelong have kicked 5 of the last 25 goals...

Hardly good form to go into a Semi Final in PERTH against either the Swans or Giants.

It's now on us to beat Brisbane and get to Perth to get a week off and ready for whichever teams comes out of that game next week.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
