Max shepherded out of the ruck - no free.

13 - 8 plus so many not paid

Max has to be the harshest dealt player in the league. So many times he is not paid a free for blatant blocking, shepherding, arm chopping, holding and high contact hits.
Would like to get his POV (off the record to get the truth)

well that was a woeful quarter.  take oliver out of the picture we fall apart, especially with Petracca being held. too many passengers, we cannot handle their short game and our kicking efficiency sucks big time.

dismantled

Taken Gawn out of the game, exactly what west coast did in 18

Nice of Geelong to give the reality check, I mean how many have they given us over the years?

You couldn't find a more bigger front runner then Bayley Fritsch.  Happy to beat up on the lower place teams but goes to water against top quality sides. Absolute front runner. Just the 3 disposals.

McDonald is absolutely pox. Back to his 2020 form and moving like a crab.

Brayshaw is absolutely hopeless footballer in general.

One word. Uncompetitive when the finals heat comes on, and this IS a final. So much promise, so much hope, and bang. 7 goals in 10 minutes. That’s not just a fraudulent defence, that’s a contested embarrassment. In all honesty, who here thinks we can win the flag? And how?

I think a lot of us would be lying if we said yes.

This is very unsettling.

Its not just the score its more the manner of how easy those goals for cats looked.

Defenders look lost.

Their game plan is unchanged. Chip chip chip kick inside 50

You'd think that a game plan that has stayed the same for the last 10 years might actually be defended by us

They’ve always chipped around the back but a lot of run and carry through the middle and fwd and non 15m kicks outside 50 is a change

they used to bomb it a fair bit to their big 3

That quarter was Mark Neeld era bad. 8 goals in a row against. Good to see we saved our best for last!

How do the Cats get away with constantly playing the man, they push, block, hold, and scagg, at most of the contests and in their forward area?

Our backs have to play in an uneven contest.

Well that certainly escalated turning into crap.

Our pressure is non existent. We miss tackles, we are not manning up, they are just waltzing through the middle doing what they please. Hawkins as usual is getting on top of us and we got smashed in the midfield.

Holy heck I can't remember this season in a game where we have been so out of it like that.

Without Hibbo & Hunt. With Viney, Harmes and Sparrow in.  We're slow as a wet week around the contest.   Kozzie's the only one with break away pace/clean disposal and he's playing inside 50.

This is why i wanted Sparrow out, Baker in and Gus into the middle at least for his skills and evasive abilities.

Baker is a poor ball user but at least he has a chance of getting the ball i50 fairly quickly and give our forwards a chance.  He's not alone in the poor delivery stakes coming inside 50.

Also we look flat as a tack tonight.    Forget the system.  Where's the motivation?  That's partially on SG IMV.

Spargo, Sparrow, Dogga, Harmes, Viney bar his one goal), Macca barely sighted and Max soundly beaten in the ruck in that second quarter.

Scott is a good coach identified problems, shut down Oliver, freed up Dangermouse, got it out of the center on their tiny ground and kicked it over our heads. They got some breaks but the Grand final isnt played at Cat Park.

Stop the wrist slashing

1st half summary.

Dees positives - nil , ok maybe Clarry. He’s trying to carry us but one man not enough

X umpires killed us and cats got into the game

x zone not working  cats picking it apart with run and skill

x Hawkins destroying May

x Cameron showing us why he is such a smart footballer

x fumbles like 2019

x Tmac is looking like an old man

x Trac is not sighted … injured or tired or jet lagged

x Gawn beaten in the ruck - cats won 5 centre clearances in a row

x passengers not stepping us. Gus ?

x Langdon needs to hit a target sometime

x Harmes gets the footy and disposal is terrible

x viney needs show others how to tackle and trap the footy in

solutions ??

we can win it

gawn must get on top

Trac needs to take a Dangerfield pill - run and burst

Get angry but disciplined.  Need to grab the footy and show intensity.

1) It's our first mid quarter collapse in a whole season. It won't be happening again.

2) some of those goals are easily preventable

3) our defence got pantsed. Also incredibly unlikely to happen again

4) I remember doggies got done last round of 2016 by like 10 goals. Went on to win the flag. I doubt this does anything to our belief.

If anything... a blessed learning I reckon.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
