I wonder what the sticking point was for the delay in announcement, since it appears the clubs had been told this was going to happen prior to Saturday night?

Imagine we've probably seen our last regular season game in person.

Bad week for Dogs, lost a player to ACL, another player to quarantine and now have to face the top8 juggernaut

It's unbelievably bad luck that the AFL has had two 1 v 2 games this year and both of them have occurred during lockdowns.

This is now three of (you'd expect) our top four most profitable home games lost due to COVID (Brisbane, Queen's Birthday and this, with the fourth being ANZAC Eve). We also lost a home game vs Hawthorn, a larger Victorian club.

Even if we get a crowd vs Adelaide, the best we'll do this year is to finish with six home games at the MCG in front of crowds for the season, and of those games four will have been against interstate sides. I have no idea how that stacks up against other clubs but I'd be surprised if many clubs had a worse set of home game crowds.

Edit: I missed the Carlton game. So it's a bit better - crowds at 6 home games, 7 if we get Adelaide.

And report tonight that the grand Final is unlikely to be played at the MCG.

No it won't be.

Missed the sarcasm again?

Media are cranking up their 'we can't be trusted' story again which might be a good thing for this game. We should probably translate it into latin and add it to our club logo.

That's hilarious. It sounds both roman and Australian. It would make for some great hashtag t-shirts and keep cups to accompany the positive lingers merch.

I bet you said the same after the Adelaide, Collingwood, and GWS games ??

No.

Going by VicGov’s track record it would be a fair bet that a lockdown could be announced on GF Eve.

Well give me a reason to doubt this thesis.

I generally only watch games we're in, so am not familiar with the players in most other teams (other than the fact that every second Bulldogs player is called 'Bailey'). Has Mitch Hannan been doing well with the Bullies?

Don't tell me, I'm still in two minds about the matter; tell him, that's if he can settle down and behave for a change - just like I told her to do.

Because they haven't finalised the details YET obviously.

Thought it was interesting in Bradshaw’s after match interview that he alluded to playing the Bulldogs next week.  Thought it was a slip of the tongue but maybe they had already been told it could be a possibility …if they were told before the game maybe that’s what they were thinking about ..

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
