I think most of us are aware that most of your really vicious posts are when you have had a few sherberts but seriously, your anti Jack and gobsmackingly anti Max posts have made me want to break my phone at times. Perhaps in the future you could count to ten before posting?

Picket Fence.  You might be at odds with the views of many but we all should remember that you are a fellow Dees fanatic and just (hopefully) want the best for the Melbourne Footy Club and bring us premiership glory.  Time to wrap our arms around each other and march on  !!!

Delete thread and rename it to ‘The never trade Jack Viney thread’

Ditto, his name should never be spoken in vein ever again.

Made for finals footy.

Jack watches over me as I sleep at night...

...that's normal, right?

Everyone has their right to an opinion but if someone took the time to list all the players that have had a " Never wear Red and Blue again" or " We should trade now " comment about them we would not have a side for the GF.

Ah the was waiting for you, yes he played very well give him that, but did not see a different game style from him.

1. Instead of see ball get ball he actually spread when he did not have the ball.

2. The first instinct of trying to break tackles he gave off handballs nearly performed Olivers role of the past and it has allowed Oliver and co to be able to be more outside runners.

3. His depth of kicking is still a problem but can go past that if he keeps playing that way.

Wow. Just show some humility and so you were wrong. For your own good and your demon soul.

You are acting in an 'olisik' type fashion and you don't want that d3165, you don't want that.

Jack Viney played a magnificent game. No if or buts about it

I never wanted to trade or lose him, but I genuinely believed that Jordon or Sparrow would overtake him by finals time. Very glad I am wrong. He was brilliant.

There is no way a team is going to tag all 3 of Trac, Clarry and Viney. 2 of them always emerge as match winners. With so much attention on Clarry (who still got 27 touches by the way), Viney was able to play his game the way he wanted to. His kicking has improved (Chocco?) and he has stopped trying to break every first tackle.

Can't wait to see him with a fire in his belly come GF.

Jack isn't perfect but he is physically relentless.

A crucial part of the best midfield in the game.

Is this gonna be one of those "To all of you who wrote Jack Viney off, are you going to show some guts and apologise?" thread bumps?

Hope so ... we can also start the Fritsch vs Watts thread again if you like

Well you should thank me for helping him, it seems he has read what I have said about him and he has taken that in the way he played because he went from a selfish, see ball get ball, butcherd ball and turnover king to one of a team player, so I will take your thanks in good spirit and hope he plays the same in the grand final.

The anti-Jackers tend to see what he doesn't do rather that what we does do. he is unconditional, that's a trait I would have in my team every week rather than some that pick and choose. He has his limitations and they can be frustrating but he will keep getting better.

Trade Brayshaw, I swear he has regressed as a footballer and is nothing but run of the mill. Can't have AVB either, he is tough but slow.

🙄😮

I agree that I thought he could be bypassed by Sparrow in particular (and probably will in due course)  but as others have said he is a finals (or other big game) player, and had a ripper particularly early on when the scene was being set last night.   An integral cog ⚙️ in the midfield.

Would walk through a brick wall for a hard ball get. That’s the player you want in a hotly contested final… or in an 83 point demolition.

When my nerves have flared over the past few weeks I've pictured Jack Viney standing in front of the Cup. Anyone else who wants it has to get past him - he won't let it happen.

Fun fact.

Jack Viney plays his 150th game on grand final day.

Is there not a better stage for him to completely rise to the occasion in your 150th game!

Jack Viney might actually murder a doggies player for the win.

Huge fun fact Dazzle, great get.

It would be a great result if Jack won the Norm Smith Medal and won a Premiership this year his Father and Uncle would be over the moon.

The players like Gawn, Petracca and Oliver would be very happy for him and the Team.

Jack has been a great player but injury has made his journey to 150 games a very long process the last player who lost lots of games due to injury and was an exceptional player was Glen Lovett who played over 100 games in the same period as Jimmy Stynes  but never seemed to string games together.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
