I would’ve too if I was neutral. They’re half a team of VFL footballers, second from bottom, giving a brilliant account of themselves. We aren’t any of that. Do you think we deserved praise?

It's also why the free kicks go against us in games like this. When one team is an underdog and having a red hot crack while the highly fancied team is prancing around limiting contact and playing like it's an NBA all star game, it's human nature that the umpires also start looking after the opposition. Our players can just be so insipid that the broader football world just kind of like turning the screws on us at times.

I found a couple of positives from tonight. One, we can’t play much worse than that. Two, percentage shouldn’t play any part for the remainder of the season.

Three. We put Hawthorn a game and percentage above North, so screwed their plan to draft Jason Horne.

It's not a disaster in the context of the season but the signs aren't good really since the Collingwood game.  We've gone loss, bye, narrow win, loss, solid win v PA then draw where we probably deserved to lose.  I was really disappointed when a few blokes stopped and watched Gawn chase whoever it was in the third running into the punt road goals.  Gawny was stuffed but the bloke eventually fumbled and there was nobody to assist.  They eventually got a goal out of that forward thrust.  Shameful that the biggest and hardest working player in the team was the one doing the chasing while the Hollywood mids and others stopped to watch.  It's very disappointing but hopefully they get to play next week and redeem themselves.  And Sparrow should've played ahead of Vandenberg.  I can only think they were expecting conditions to be worse than they were.

That's about three games where we've selected players expecting a wet weather slog which never happened.

Same scenario with non selection of Ben Brown.

Strange

I always cringe when I see odds of $9.50 for Hawks to win and people on here talking about percentage and a “10 goal victory being a pass mark”. Clearly not enough people follow this team forensically. I wish I didn’t.

The two points may prove to be very handy, but this team is taking months off our lives every time they serve this porridge up.

Of the 5 games we’ve played against the bottom 4 teams, tonight was the first time we’ve been in front at half time.

Defensively we look horrible against poor sides when they don’t go down the line. They simply employ a game plan to counter our strengths and we have no answer but to just keep doing the same thing.

Same [censored] different week!!

1. Understanding of momentum in a game. We are 1 goal away from it being a landslide midway through the 2nd. But no. We switch off and allow hawthorn and run on and to enter half time full of confidence. Dumb.

2. Goal kicking; a lack of respect for the severity of misses and losing all chances of momentum and scoreboard pressure.

3. Clearances: Still not good enough. How was the first 10 seconds of the last quarter! Hawks breakaway from the middle with disgusting ease and goal. You'd think our top 4 chances weren't on the line or something!

4. Kicking to dangerous spots inside 50m. Stop kicking it to the bloody pockets. 20metres out directly in front and put their defenders under real pressure.

Tough result but I am happy for Dr D. The doc would be wetting his pants with excitement over this result. No idea who he follows But

Nah, he’d be disappointed we didn’t lose. It’s not as ‘stimulating’ inside the gimp suit when it’s a draw.

Never seen May play a worse game. Needs to get his head right.

Jackson, T Mac and Brown gave us SFA up front. We were crying out for some marks from our 58 inside 50s

I’m disappointed but pleased Sportsbet paid out my line bet on Hawthorn +42.5 points

The MFC are the best bet going when they go into a game as hot favourites

I still struggle to see how we are top of ladder - this team just takes a holiday when they really should bury teams

Hard to feel confident they can perform when it really matters - finals

I think our biggest issue at the moment is teams outside the 8 are just trying to take our game away from us and we have struggled a little with it.  The positive is the teams in the finals will look to play their own game against us and we have shown that our game is better than most if not all in the 8

Doesn't say a lot about the quality or desire of our players though does it. It's looking very much like the higher ranked teams have tried to play their own game and haven't applied the full on pressure to us, thus opening the door for us to play it on our terms. When lower teams apply pressure, our players look worse than ordinary.

In finals, just like in the NBA playoffs, everyone ups their defensive intensity. I can see another Perth 2018 on the cards when the finals come around.

The umps favoured hawthorn the whole night, and Clarkson has the temerity to sit there in his presser and blame the umps.

Go suck a fat one you [censored].

All of you people talking about top 4 and top 2. I've proven you wrong time and time again! this is now proof. We are now unlikely to make the top 4. You are torturing yourselves by continuing to talk about top 2 and top 4 and have NO RESPECT for just how little you can trust this club.

SHAME ON EVERYONE WHO SAID I WAS NEGATIVE JUST FOR STATING I BELIEVED WE WOULD FINISH 5TH. Since my comment,  there has been numerous articles stating how we are at risk of losing that spot. And guess what, MORE ARE COMING!

LESSON: NEVER EVER doubt my knowledge of this football team.

The Hawks are mad for getting rid of Clarkson - this result came from the coaches box. He dismantled our game plan. The set shots from Kozzie and Gus were disgraceful. We need more like Spargo that have some footy nous and kicking skills.

Although it would be good if Spargo could kick further than 35m.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
