Fair call. He still has a long way to go

The Wino was fairly quiet so his job may have been to negate his old mate

Viney needs to be commended for his defensive job on Wines, he was basically a non factor. Viney offence stuff will come.

he had 33 touches? lol

Viney got destroyed

Wines just didn't have anyone else to give it to

Pickett 4 tackles inside 50, Brown, Jordon and McDonald all 3.

Love that.

Seeing Brown with i50 tackles is fantastic.

Perfect. And one of the greatest scenes of all time.

Gawn confirming they did a block of hard training around the bye.

But said it wasn't a factor in their form slump

Imagine if we ever convert more than 50% of our shots on goal. What a time to be alive that would be!

Was thinking the same thing Jaded, would be great if we could turn them into goals.

Well we can work on that, so happy.

Imagine if Goodwin played Lever down back for 4 minutes, then in the ruck, then tagging a defender then on the bench then in the ruck again for no reason at all.

The no reason is he knew Jackson would smash Marshall in the ruck and our defenders were killing them in the air.

The way we play without a lot of uncontested ball use and flooding numbers up and back makes the talls so important and Port’s talls just didn’t have to. So they had to mix and move Aliir.

For us it’s a matter of whether we can get the same control in the air on the mcg where there’s more space to cover and it’s harder to get pressure.

Good win on a hostile tract. Good win and how a tall key position player makes a difference. Thaught Brown played quite well. And hats off to Petty.

Yes a very diplomatic answer from Gawny, not wanting to see any blame for the GWS loss, etc., fall on Burgess.

And the faithless and doubting Thomas fans clamber to get back onto the bandwagon……..

Text from Port mate at the game: “Far too good”.

Was it actually 'fir to gud' and you cleaned it up?

In the post game interview Maxy sounds like he's got a bit of a cough. ?

NOOOOOO, fingers crossed it's not you know what??

Thought we were outstanding tonight. Structure was on point and Port never knew where to kick, there just wasn't any space. Then when the last resort was to bomb in we just cut it off all night. Our system is exceptional and the players executing it are so committed.

Trac and Oliver immense. Salem doesn't know the meaning of missing targets. May and Lever fantastic. Will finish this later want to see the highlights!

My work mate is Port. As per tradition, I will get in to work before him and drape a flag over his desk.

Yes, Ken really didn’t put Aliir into a position to succeed.

It was great.

Maybe the best part of the win is it means Dr D is 0-3 for his predictions of how the Essendon, GWS and Port games would play out.

Am I the only one to notice they took ages to play our song after the win and only played it once? Even the DJ is salty that they lost by the look of it

I actually think the doppy aholes started playing the Port song then went I [censored] we didn’t win quick change it.  Idiots.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
