Oh he’s not fat. No footballer is!
He just looks really heavy and unfit.

There were whispers during the early '90's that the West Coast Eagles were on something performance enhancing. I remember Paul Coach saying that they must have been good steaks over there at the time.

They must have replaced the steaks with KFC double downs and deep fried Mars Bars. It looks like NikNat and McGovern have been eating at the same buffet.

Its a joke of an award  - its impossible to win effectively by being nominated after round 14.

You either have a best first year player award OR you have an award for the player that is the most likley to be a star

And there are good players that have great years but don't get nominated because someone has a blinder one week.

Or the AFL need to spread the love for teams that haven't yet been nominated....

Of course Jmac but having said that, someone has to be nominated and I reckon he deserves one.  Nothing stopping another nom next year when he is a great chance again.

I heard the same from a Mudgee motel owner whose brother played for the Eagles  - full back - at that time.

This guy is going to be a star and a huge part of our success. I don't think there are many players one can compare him with.

Such a great addition. Well done MFC.

Hope to see many years of him and Kozzie up forward kicking bags of goals.

I wonder if he will bulk up as he's so young. But I guess its always a fine line bw speed and bulk.  Sometimes when he gathers the ball up I forget how tall he is. Great to see him holding his marks and slotting majors now too

The upside of this kid is enormous. Starting to take his marks more consistently too, which will give him great confidence.
Need to sign him up long-term along with his best mate

I agree he should but its a stupid award if half the players nominated can't win it and a bunch of the players not nominated can't win it.

Didn't you notice the very substantial bulking up of Jacko between seasons LITB?

Must have increased weight by 8/10 kgs O would hav thought.

Look at some 2020 photos and a recent one and see the arms, body upper especially and legs so much more muscle and definition.

That's a mystery in itself. From what I understand Jordon can run all day. Why is he getting limited TOG?

Didn't he stop the Coach from patting him on the bum when coming back to bench? That's pretty good reason ...

Boundary Road boppers.

Just illustrates how important it was for us to tank in 2019...

He’s a jet and I think could be in the top 10 players in the game. I hope we can manage to pay him as maybe May and Gawn age and retire. We just have a number of players now that demand to be paid.

Great problem to have.

Got it right the second time around didn’t we!

21 touches and 3 contested marks In windy wet conditions

19yo and 200cms. As athletic as Adam Goodes. Could be anything. What a gun!

There's a good chat up with LJ on the Gus and Gawny podcast - about 30 minutes in total.

Amongst the banter and the "getting to know you" kind of stuff, two things stood out to me:

1. He said was 91kg on draft night and has already hit the ton.

2. He could not have said "Nup!" quick enough when Gawny went serious and asked him if it was tough living away from Perth. He even thinks Melbourne has overtaken Perth as a city (despite being COVID-ravaged for most of his time - as Gawny pointed out)

He's a ripper.

I must say there were a couple of games on the run home that year  (WC, Dogs and Saints) when we we had a lead in the last Qtr or had all the momentum only to be run over.

I’m not giving your tanking claim any credence (unless you were joking)  but we certainly flushed some potential wins down the toilet in late 2019.

Just watched his segment on Gus and Gawny.

Certainly the bloke you'd love to have a beer and a cone with at 5am on a Sunday morning.

Hi deever  LJ said that he has gone from 91kg to 101 kg since joining the club on the Gus & Gawny podcast this week and all muscle.!!!

His ability to palm the ball into the hands of his midfielders was sublime - the ball just slides off his hand

It’s the cheeseburger grease.

I think of everything about Jacko the thing he has improved so much at this year is his contested marking. Early days this season he got to plenty of contests but his hands never looked confident, now looking back at the marks he took against WC he just looks a totally different kettle of fish. The sky is the limit on him, I have never been this excited about a young KPP/ruckman at our club.

Likable bloke. Assuming you like stoners.

He is hilarious o Gus and Gawny. And his post match interview with Eddie and co after the eagles game was equally hilarious.

I was thinking that he could well be the long lost son of the Jeff 'the dude' Lebowski

I thinking it was Browny, who said on ‘On the Couch’ that he appears to gone from a boy to a man in a couple of weeks.

He is now imposing in the ruck, at ground level and up forward. I think he will tear games apart. Hoping it will be during the final series, but certainly early next year!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
