Haha, that Hird goal was 4 Casey players going up to spoil, only for it to come off for the crumb. Dumb dumb footy. Most of our Dees brigade look a serious class above. Like the look of all the newbies, no exceptions. Bedford is very very quick, and good. Needs an AFL gig, poor kid. Love that Nathan Jones, no. 2. Is he on our list?

Don't go there, I understand why but makes you like them.

He's been ok today, clearly working hard just hasn't impacted like he/we would like

Very satisfactory afternoon. BB kicked a bag. Has to start v GWS. No point waiting.

Jonesy very good , Melks, Baker, Vanders all in amongst it. The Weid was up and down. Hopefully he can build some confidence over the next few weeks and be ready if called upon.

Of the youngsters Bowey looks composed. Classy player. Developing nicely. Laurie quieter but he’s had a long lay-off. Rosman has a lot of development to go before being considered for the firsts.

It would be funny if you weren't serious.

didn't think I'd say it...but in the heat of September there might be a role for the body player like Vandenberg.

Very good game today

Bradtke down back was interesting. Didn't do too much but didn't make any mistakes.

Cannot see any candidate to replace Hibberd next year if needed. May need to trade for that player.

Baker is becoming good at this level.

Deakyn Smith is pretty handy. Might not be ready yet but he’s better than expected

That is false on many levels. Very few experienced forwards go to the VFL and dominate. Delivery, poor windy grounds and poor quality teammates often means key forwards struggle the most at this level. We know Brown can play AFL. The questions remain over his fitness. If he’s looking strong and fit he gets a recall. Doesn’t need to kick 10 goals.

Edit: he also doesn’t need to kick 10 at senior level. He needs to take marks, compete in the air and on the lead and provide a meaningful target. Fritsch best games this year were when Brown was deep forward taking away defenders.

no you are wrong if you cant get kick at thet level then you not playing well, look at jones to good for the level and it stood out

Totally different players with different requirements for their positions.ie forwards need good delivery.

An absolute second half goalfest. LoLo may be a stylish way to get your lockdown home delivery but the floating rear suspension is so passé. Pump up your shocks!

Enjoyed the Browns' contributions, Mitch unfortunately out with an inopportune injury, Ben showing something up forward and Campbell would be a major improvement in the big league. Talks common sense with more than a hint of authority.

Plenty to like about  from the guys that played, both veterans and rookies. Is Aaron Vandenberg a chance of a recall at some stage? Body and Soul player at his best.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
