He’s out of contract & yet to make a decision on whether to stay at Freo or come home to Victoria. This is obviously known now but rumour has it that Richmond are keen on him.

Just wondering if you guys think we should look at getting him & if so what would you give in return ?

Brayshaw is the much better player out of that Freo midfield.

It depends what Cerra'd cost us. I know some of the WA posters like him, but I'm not a big fan.

That said, we're clearly looking to add outside polished to our midfield (see Merrett), so if Merrett is a no go, maybe we do look at Cerra. He's got a great name.

The one thing I know is the more we keep winning and the deeper we get this year, the more appealing we will be to a player like Cerra who might be assessing his future.

I don't think we can afford anymore high priced players. We need to look at our own. Weideman would be the only one on the trade table ATM but he will be given every chance to prove him self.

Would be the Cerra on top but don't have the draft capital. I'd assume we'd be looking at Langdon types who will only cost 2nd rounders or there abouts.

Cerra is about the become a star. Another excellent game today/tonight. I’d love him in red and blue.

He’d be a huge target for clubs like Bombers and Kangas. Hawks probably also could offer a first rounder.

Imv at this time MFC are unlikely to have the trade picks or players to get Freo interested.

All I can say is that you have no idea what you're talking about if you're not a fan of Cerra.

Genuinely no idea.

You obviously haven't watched enough of him.

Cerra doesn’t really fill a need for us. He is going to be a star, of that I have no doubt - really like the kid (not many flaws). His ball use is something that we could use, but we drafted Bowey and Laurie for that. Cerra would come at a high cost and he plays in a position where we are already very strong. We need to fill our weaknesses at this point. Money better spent elsewhere. I’d perhaps look to move on a big dollar forward in exchange for a proven wingman to compliment Langers.

We've done pretty well out of Freo as of late.

Langdon and effectively May.

Can't see how we manufacture this one though.

Too expensive in terms of cash and draft picks I’d imagine.

A third A grade mid is a huge expense. Particularly when we have Gawn, Viney, Harmes, Langdon and most likely Gus on the books.

Unless we find value in trading players out I’d imagine we look towards free agency, even if it’s matching and getting a discount.

Plenty of other holes we need to fill with draft picks or cheaper trade acquisitions.

Great player, who would complement our current midfielders perfectly.  Would need to robe Peter to pay Paul to get him over though.  Clubs will be falling over themselves for a player of his quality and we won’t have the draft currency to compete.  We’d need to give a quality player to get him and free up the cap space.

You've always seemed to like opposition players more than our own mate.

I said Brayshaw was the better player and I'm not a big fan. Doesn't mean I'd say no to Adam, but in terms of doing what they do, Brayshaw has taken his game to another level this year and his level is significantly higher than Cerra's thus far. Doesn't mean it can't turn, but it is what it is at this point.

Seriously why are we discussing the trade/draft period right now, when we're 10-1 at the halfway mark of the 2021 season?

if there has ever been a season where we don't have to start thinking about the trade/draft period mid-year, it's this [censored] one!

I like the idea of building a dynasty and improving every year. That's why I like these sort of threads, even when we're in the position we find ourselves in now.

I hate how we start a thread on every single player that would be good at the dees.

Yeah, it sure is inconvenient to not click on a thread and having to scroll another 0.5cm to the next one.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
