Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melksham - current whipping boy.

No. He has been for a couple of years. And I really believe, rightly so.

Its not personal, hes just not one of our good players.

People get frustrated because he still gets gigs. Thats all.

Brayshaw looks way off the pace at the moment.  Slow and tentative.

He gets a gig because he hits targets when he has the ball

Set up at least 3 goals in the 3rd Q

Brayshaw played a different role today because we lost Viney and inexplicably they brought in a winger to replace him.
Talk about not fixing what isn’t broken and we have 2 guys who could have replaced Viney one for one in Harmes and Sparrow.
Unless we didn’t know Viney was a possible out, and hence couldn’t play those guys off a short break, I have no idea why you would bring Baker in to replace an inside mid.
We gotta stop throwing Brayshaw around to fill holes and then wonder why he isn’t getting into the game. He has to settle somewhere.

Saying things like “diluting trade value” is horribly disrespectful. Why should somebody play well for the team you support if that’s all you’re going to reduce their contribution to on an off day?

Sets a pretty high standard does Steven! 25 touches, 14 marks, 550 metres gained!

Yes great stats but did look uncharacteristically fumbly early but that was because our midfield was applying zero pressure up field in the first half, allowing North to bring the ball with ease, straight through the centre corridor, a backman’s nightmare. But when we needed May he delivered I thought, so I gave him votes.

Brayshaw was coming off a couple of great games, playing a great role for the team. Definitely not off the pace.

Agree 'Jaded', we need to let him settle. The wing has been his spot.

Baker is not up to it and my only guess is they wanted to have one last look at him...

And was directly responsible for north goals due to taking the easy option. Zero defensive accountability or hunger. Flies for the hero mark and goes to ground way too easy for mine

That’s why he us in the side

I don’t disagree with you. Just think the bad outweighs the good at the moment.

It is a tough call. I see Spargo as the guy who play a similar role and plays it way better atm in my opinion

The only good thing he did.

Agreed. Baker needs to fix some areas urgently if he is to make it. Should have stuck the tackle against in goal square which resulted in a goal.  2nd q I think.

Fumbly and not really enough grunt. That last quarter effort was good but almost straight after another tackle didn't stick. Not sure he fits into what we need to be.

We need them both playing well.
But Melksham is a finisher, that is why Goodwin plays him

He is never going to lay 10 tackles or be at the bottom of packs

He is a very good kick, that includes the long bomb

Spargo plays a different role

Gawn - uncharacteristically quiet game

Hibberd - finally got going

May - not his best

Tomlinson - a sad story

Lever - great second half

Salem - cool under pressure

Rivers - loose but energetic

Baker - little to commend

Langdon - kept on giving

Petracca - no votes today

Oliver - better second half

Fritsch - our most important

McDonald - important in defence

Spargo - great with ball

Pickett - genius at work

Brown - a limited debut

Jackson - enjoyed more responsibility

Jones - composed when required

Hunt - was rarely sighted

Neal-Bullen - had little involvement

Jordon - calm and tough

Melksham - selfish and limited

Spot on. Agree with each and every one.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
