Would the love be so ardent if we had lost all 4 games and Oliver decided not to re-sign.

Sorry Old Fart but it is amazing to read the accolades and love after a few wins. They better keep winning.

Ernest, I was a fervent supporter throughout our 'glory years' and my love for the Club has not diminished one iota during our extensive periods in the 'wilderness'.  I fully understand your pragmatism, but I intend to ride the current 'ripple (not wave) of success' for however long it lasts.  They have been too few and far between for me to give up now!.

I have never been 100% convinced that Oliver has the team-first mentality to take us to a premiership. My mind has changed. To go all-in and sign so early in a season when we promise something but haven't delivered yet shows he not only wants us to get there but is willing to bet his career on it. Lovely.

I know Clarry, not super close but enough to know him

I can’t ever see him leaving this club, he loves the club and loves the boys and I can’t see that ever changing

And he’s better than Patrick Cripps???

He is a lot better than Cripps. Oliver has levels, whereas Cripps is more or less one dimensional

Beautifully stated my friend.

Love the passion and we should all ride the ripple for as long as it lasts.

A mate texted saying that clarry had resigned and i was ready to watch clayton highlights with a bucket of ice cream.

Glad it was just a grammatical error, so happy he's sticking around.

Go Dees!

Fantastic news, great stuff from Clarry. Getting big names early will help to stave off any media speculation and the boys can focus on what happens on the field.

You’re a gem Clarry!!!!

Straight of player managers text book, drip feed and squeeze what you can.

Sign till FA and go again in your prime for that last big deal.

Well played

Great work by the FD to take this kid when they did

What are you intimating here? That we're going to replace Pert already with Brian Cook? What's the thinking?

Wasn't Cook interviewed the other week saying he's stepping away from the Cats at the end of the year and retiring

Yep, December this year he’s leaving Geelong after announcing his retirement less than two weeks ago.
I’d find it odd if he’d committed to a role at the MFC.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
