Weideman plays. Brown rucks forward.

Ah can I digress I WOULD PLAY MAJAK!! He has dominated in the ruck and is super competetive. Weeds I like but in this case Horses for courses!

Hard to wipe your bum with a sore toe.

Hard, but not impossible ! It's  been done before, just not by me.

Dogga has been playing as a forward, back up ruck, a role both TMac and Weideman have played before, I think Sam does it better, a no brainer for me, Weeds in!

I agree it's likely going to be Weid, but I think that's an oversimplification of Dogga's role this year. He's been closer to a midfielder IMO, averaging 14 disposals, 3 marks, 2 clearances, on top of the ruck work.

I don't think either Weid or TMac have the same ability. TMac can run but doesn't have the agility or ground level skills, Weid doesn't read the play like a mid like Dogga does. I'm glad Weid will likely get a shot, but I think people might be underselling Jackson's importance to our performances so far this year.

Makes getting our Centre clearances back on track even more crucial this week, as I feel Jackson has been pivotal in turning things around for us in the center the last two weeks.

So surely this has to be Weid in. Just as a thought rather than Weid into Jacko’s position maybe TMac plays the second ruck role (in tandem with Sam) and is the more mobile tall around the ground. I’d say Tom would cover the ground in a more Jackson-style way more than Sam, and Sam can play a more traditional CHF role.

Shame for Dogga, he’s been getting better every week he plays.

not ideal, but really keen to see SW

Imagine if SW puts in 2 great games.

“seize the day Weid”

Weed has decent rucking form so he should come in - the position is a forward who rucks and after last week - Gawn will want to ruck for most of this game too.

No brainer.

Brown weed and tmac can all back up ruck and at worst pinch hit there. No issues rotating through all of them to change in game balance as required.

One is a finger the other a toe . Totally different problems. Finger injury won't worry you as much and a toe.

Presumably he played on with it last week - does anyone know when it happened?

Bad luck for Jackson, though could do with a rest. Young body, playing a tough game, bring him back after the bye.

Send him home to WA for a while.

Weids in, let's see how he goes paired with BBB. Our mids will have tinkered with the centre bounce and I expect lots of service for the fwds,.

Weids will be well freshened, due to the VFL cancelled game last round.

Tmac and possibly Petty to relieve in the ruck.

Max to dominate the central area.

No!!  Knee jerk Marshall will lock him over there.

Weed in and also Sparrow.

Do you think it takes two to replace Action Jackson?

Maybe rest Max too and play Majak and Weed?? ( ? in cheek).

Well call me a conspiracy theorist, but I've got a theory that this is orchestrated.

You need an excuse to rest someone otherwise you're disrespecting your opponent

Max may not be sore, he may just have lost confidence by giving Jacko too much time at the centre bounces. We got smashed in the clearances, especially when Max was in there, so give him a bigger responsibility. He's been working with Yze and Viney to fix up the clearances and needs time in the middle to sort things out.

Everybody has been wanting Weidemann back in the side and yet Ben Brown needs time in there as well to get match fitness and start gelling with the forward entries. BB out for the Weid is not a good move, this allows Weid back in and  takes the pressure off the call for BB out.

Jacko is young and will only benefit from a couple of weeks off and while we will miss him, the leaders who make the calls and keep structures etc are still out there.

As a conspiracy theorist Its a win, win, win so I have to consider it. I hope if it is the case it doesn't backfire.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Dogga, in the relief ruck role Tom or Sam can’t match him, but I think Sam will do better with the time he gets as a forward

Sure hope so, RGRS.

Tommy and Fritsch, and last week Tommy and BBB have worked remarkably well in keeping out of each others’ way (Tom’s “sealer” mark was the only time I noticed them flying together) unlike some of our forward structures in recent years.
Full credit to them, and whomever drills them in this.  Presumably Weed has been part of the same drills, and can hopefully fit in with and around them too.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
