Love him or hate him you can admire him for the love he has for his club. To help his club when it was in financial trouble by becoming the President and building a solid foundation at Collingwood. Instigated and set up a home  for the club at the old Olympic swimming pool and with help from the state government a training ground close to the MCG which they  call home.

22 years as President I say Well done Eddie you went out help your club to survive and be viable. You certainly love your club.

See ya.

Won't be missed at all.

I’ll miss the camera panning to Eddie every time Collingwood lose a big game. His expression always made my day.

Make no mistake. There were sizeable forces out against him and he is saving face by announcing he is leaving in 12m.

My spies tell me The natives were very restless after the debacle on contracted players.

End of 2021 hahhahaha. Good on ya Ed you could move into politics very easily you slippery bastard.

Also great job on getting the filth to where they are, you railroaded VIS beautifully.

He'll consult his sons who will tearfully urge him to continue, and, regrettably, against his better judgement, Eddie will continue in the role.

All true. And in the 12 years after that, couldn't control his big mouth and got himself and his club in hot water, multiple times, that would have finished anyone else without a media pulpit to cast stones from.

In spite of all the negative comments on here I like Eddie and he has done a good for the Pies.

I wish to God we had him in control for the last 22 years. We would have had a lot more success under him than the procession of very ordinary people we have had running the MFC.

He's been putting his foot in it more and more recently, so probably a good idea to step away for a while.

5 grand finals in 22 years is something we could only dream of.

The easy argument is he should’ve called time around 2011 ish. A premiership, 4 grand finals, a home base and financial riches.

But he’s also guided in the Buckley era and 90 seconds from winning the 2018 flag. Their footy department has made errors since losing Balmey, that’s hardly a shock, and it’s time, but hard to be too critical.

Same goes for staying until the end of 2021. It’s disappointing for members that clubs aren’t democracies and boards get to handover power but a smooth transition works best if you get it right. And there’s not a single club that seems keen on elections anyway.

I know Eddie can be a real cakehole but if we had had a President like him we would have been in a better position.

Every club wishes they had a president as effective as Eddie. Every club also dreads having a president as impulsive and ill-disciplined as Eddie.

I'm finding it hard to contain my apathy.

He did some good things, but he should have been removed after his “King Kong” reference. It was disgraceful, as was the Treloar contract

Have you met him 'old dee'?

If one takes into account Eddy's big mouthed irreverent and ignorant opinions i don't think i would have been able to actively support this Club if he was  here....

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
