Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our best is Top Shelf, we just don’t play that way for long enough, exactly the way i saw the year  All above the shoulders, and attitude

Is it players, coaching or both Sir?

Both. Everything has to lift in intensity.
We touched levels that need to be a Standard. We need to play not 1 standout every now and then and then fall back

Leadership has to demand more.

The million dollar question ey?

I feel like we are still a younger developing side, without a strong group of experienced onfield leaders, so lack of consistency probably comes from that.

It's the coaches job to change that through ongoing development, and the footy deptartments job to recruit to help.

But there is only 1 winner of 18 each year. Like we've seen with GWS you can be a gun squad who just don't take home the silverware for reasons outside of anyones control.

We're good at The Chaos.

Not so good at control.

If I see another quarter like we had against Sydeny or Freo (when our seasonwas on the line) I want him gone.

No more Simon the Likeable.

He's had a fair shake

I feel the coaching group has to have some diverse methods of coaching to get the players to do the non negotiables all the time. Now, that can mean different approaches to different players to achieve the same result. In that area I feel Goodwin is still learning and feeling his way.  He knows what the outcomes should be but doesnt know yet how to get individual players to achieve them for team success.

I have never been a fan of the talk out of the MFC, maybe because all we have heard for many many seasons is just talk but in saying that I though Pert spoke well. It wasnt just political jargon. Making finals, playing more consistently and the coaches know exactly what is expected of them in season 21.

So the coaches obviously didnt know what was expected of them in 2020

What claptrap!

The message has been pretty clear over the last few interviews I’ve listened to. The coaching needs to improve. Make the 8 and win some finals is the expectation. As it should be.

This board have credits in the bank. Being financially independent during Covid is a great achievement. If Pert can get the home base off the ground he’ll be worthy of a knighthood as far as I’m concerned.

The focus is now squarely on the FD where it should be. Sort your s**t out Goodwin or else.

He’s already had more than enough chances. He’s had 4 good weeks out of 4 years. If this club was really wanting to act ruthlessly, he would have already been given the boot.

I agree. If it had been my choice he would have gone in 2019. I was hoping the change would happen this off season but his contract and the severe soft cap constraints have saved him.

Two points, the Financials are going to be drained with biilding a home base.  My brief reading of our financials is they are a result of selling off the Oakleigh Club and our good investment in the Bentleigh Club. I will take my hat off to Pert if he achieves a home base, however that is what is he has promised to do and  been paid to do.

Obviously they new (didn’t say they didn’t) they just didn’t come through with the goods.
Given Goody has made finals 1 out of 4 seasons I am in no doubt he knows what is expected more so than any other season he has been in charge.

That would be very foolish

You can't sell a training base on land you don't own.

Have a look at North's books if you want to see a perfect example of technical insolvency combined with relatively useless assets.

Sure use a little of the money say 20% like the Hawks were planning for Dingley.

My point is it is going to cost us money to build and maintain. Therefore a drain on our current position.

Does anyone know how many premierships Pert, Richardson, and Mahoney, having either played, coached, or been an administrator?

2

Mahoney - played in Port's 2004 flag

Pert - CEO of Collingwood in 2010

Richardson missed the Pies 1990 win after breaking his collarbone the game before.

Is that you Gabrielle zondy? that is what you said when the Holden centre was offered to Melbourne before Collingwood took it, he said no thanks too expensive to maintain.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
