Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Sam Weideman

Always really liked him and hoped like hell he would succeed .

Very popular around the club and a genuinely nice guy.

But lacked that mean competitive streak which I hope he finds at his new club.

All the best Weed.

From AFL trade update:

Dees' busy trade period

Melbourne only began chatting to Josh Schache three days before completing a trade for the former No.2 draft pick.

The Demons got the ball rolling early on Wednesday's trade deadline day by executing deals that farewelled Sam Weideman to Essendon and welcomed Schache from the Western Bulldogs.

Speaking on Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio, Melbourne's list manager Tim Lamb said the deals were inked, only agreeing to Weideman's trade request once they had a "similar type player" on the hook.

"We spoke with Josh on Sunday," Lamb said.

"Josh is a player with great versatility. He's 200cm, he's an elite runner, really well skilled, (he) can play forward, back, ruck, he's really versatile.

"With Mitch Brown retiring, Majak Daw retiring, we've lost a little bit of depth in our talls department."

David King, Brad Johnson and Jon Ralph were highly critical of his lack of work ethic and physicality.

Work ethic? Was in our top 5 for distance covered per game in 2020 when he played the most games he had for a season.

In that year he covered the same amount per game as Oliver.

Or do they mean all the times they've been to watch him train?....

A good servant who has probably made the right call for his career.

Nothing against the bloke but seeing him move on doesnt phase me too much.  Promised alot at various stages but was destined to be a perennial understudy at the dees. Backfilling him with another unfulfilled talent was a decent move too.

Will always have the 2018 finals wins as fond memories. Wish him well, even if it is at Essendon.

Sad to see him go but I guess it was the best thing for both parties. We’ve given hi, plenty of opportunities but he just couldn’t grasp them. Maybe if we played him for a season and told him he wouldn’t be dropped if he didn’t play well but we wanted him to improve and evolve over that time, but football isn’t like that.
All the best Sam and I doubt there’d be many Dees supporters that wouldn’t wish you well, you’ll always be welcome back at the club.

Feel a little sad that Weid has gone and it’s not because he has been a regular best 22 player, it’s something else. Have spoken to him a few times and always found him to be a nice guy, as the above tweet shows. Maybe he is too nice and that affects his game, who knows. I was still holding some hope he could resurrect his career with us, but that is not to be.

Anyway I wish him well personally, though not his new club.

Hope when he finishes his AFL career, he regards himself as a Demon.

I''ve been ambivalent to David King and his rantings.

He has sunk to a new low with this:  sam-weideman-traded-to-essendon-most-frustrating-player-never-needs-a-shower-analysis-bombers-must-hire-new-coach

Of all the players traded King had to go and ridicule Sam.  A pathetic attack on a young man who is rightly excited about a new opportunity.

There were other players traded who had weaknesses who he could have picked on.  But I'm glad he didn't.  No player deserves that sort of commentary, least of all Sam.

An Essendon supporters facebook group discussion about the trade came up on my feed and you would have thought they had just landed a unicorn.

Can't wait to follow up in 6 months time.

I guess I shouldn't really throw stones in this glass house.

A really lovely thank you note from Sam.

Apart from Jackson's one liner and Bedford who hasn't posted at all, I thought the rest of the guys who have left said some very heartfelt things that really speak to their character.

I am still very disappointed in how the whole Jackson thing ended. I know he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but considering he is the only one who left from our premiership side, you'd expect a lot more gratitude. Anyway, it's done now and we move on.

This kid looks ok.

Interesting only 1 mark in that highlights package. Says it all really.

Lovely bloke and I wish him all the best but we have to keep the list turning over.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
