2021 - What excites you?

Lots of looking back and looking at trades.. but what excites you about the Dees in 2021. Some positive re-enforcement for us all.

give us 3 Things:

1. Trent Rivers - Took a little while to find his feet but by the endo f the year played like a mature 100 gamer. Tough, composed, Skilful and the ability to develop into a mid is a great sign. Really liked his first year.

2. Adem Yze - Will be interesting to see the input and how quickly there are signs that his style and influence is being absorbed. Watching how Goodwin interacts with him will be fascinating

3. Christian Petracca - Those who have some football intelligence (all of us) will know that was his second pretty impressive year, others will say he just exploded and needs to do it more to be in the Dusty mould. in a 22 game season, he may just find even more gears to go and watching him in a final would be something else.

Improvement in Jacko's and Kozzies games. Could be real threats in 21.

Midfield as a whole goes up another level. Look out opposition if this happens.

Lever actually captures the form we got him for.

Good suggestions Demon3. I do disagree re Trac and Dusty though. Dusty occasionally has quiet days whereas Trac has been remarkably consistent this season. Dusty is a big occasion player and what a player he is then. Getting a quality goal kicker would be exciting.

The potential of Oliver breaking out in the same manner as Petracca and consistently delivering what he showed us he was capable of doing at times this year. Two absolute superstars in the one, ably-supported midfield would be insane.

A second season of Jackson and Pickett - the former clunking marks at will and the latter nailing his opportunities and continuing to up the pressure - with the full confidence of knowing they belong in the AFL. Add in Rivers and three very exciting prospects.

The prospect of further imports in key positions, together with Yze and the retention of Burgess. A repeat of Langdon on the opposing wing would be a delight, while a genuine KPF such as Ben Brown would be transformative to our forward line.

In no particular order:

  • JT to pull another rabbit out of the hat in the draft
  • Harmes to be played in his correct position and return to his 2018 form.
  • Ben brown to kick 60
  • Trac wins the Brownlow
  • The penny finally drops for Gus

Our back 6, we have the players that can push to be the best back defensive out fit in the AFL.  May, Lever, Tomlinson, Rivers, Salem, Hibberd and who knows maybe even Smith shows the Supporters why the coaching panel rate him highly, with Lockhart and maybe even Jordon, add in Petty if we isn't required up forward.

A few things, which is interesting because it's felt a bit doom and gloom since missing the finals

  1. I'm excited by the impact that Adem Yze is going to have on the club, tactically he's brilliant and should really help Goody on game day which i'd say is somewhat of a weakness for Goody.
  2. I'm backing Clayton Oliver to come back and have an absolutely massive year, i loved the signs we saw from him this year, getting forward of the ball more, kicking more, using his legs out of stoppages, really encouraging signs, still so young.
  3. Christian Petracca i feel could go to another level again and legitimately challenge to be the best player in the comp.
  4. Kozzie pickett, Luke Jackson and Trent Rivers with a full pre season under their belt is really exciting!
  5. I'm excited to see how the probably trade week aquisitions go, if we indeed sign Ben Brown and he gets back to his 2019 form it's a huge in.
  6. T'Mac if he stays, if he can trim down and get his running right i'm backing to return to form and form a great 1-2 punch with Brown, T'mac working higher up the ground and Brown playing deep, straightening us right up and giving guys like Kozzie and Hunt a real opportunity at ground level.
  7. Simon Goodwin, i don't rate him, and have been vocal but his back is well and truely against the wall and i'm excited to see what he can produce, he'll be hell bent to prove everyone wrong and it might be a recipe for some exciting changes at the club hopefully.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
