We should offer a long term contract and see what happens. Worse case it puts Collingwood under more salary cap strain. One of best kicks in the comp on the other wing to Langdon, yes please.

JOSH DAICOS (COLLINGWOOD)

Draft picks:
 Early-to-mid second-round pick
Value on open market: $400,000-500,000 per season

Still most likely to stay at the Pies on a multi-year deal but will have to knock back bigger offers in order to do so. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a breakout 2020 campaign, playing all but one game and proven himself as one of the best kicks inside 50 in the competition.

Agree totally, Collingwood have some very good players out of contract and are going to struggle to get them all under the salary cap. Either one of Daicos or Mihocek would be very handy, both would be even better.

Waste of space ad a topic Pure fantasy It's idle dreaming about Daicos.

Msybe Mihocek but after last night forget  that also.

I want to start a thread on Dusty Martin, Lachie Neal Liam Ryan

I suggest we offer them 3 million over 2 years each, and a GTS HK Monaro each

Would be nice to see Daics Jnr and the Weed booting us to a premiership

if only to hear the immortal words "we was robbed".

Yep I proposed this in another thread.

The Pies have to pay big money to Moore, De Goey and Mihocek.

Someone has to make them pay up big time on Daicos or let him walk. Offer him 5 years at 700k, let's see how loyal he is then.

5 x $700K?!!!

1. That's crazy money

2. His younger bro is high draft pick f/s for Pies. They will desperately want to play together. If anything, Josh will take less money for this

Can't see a Daicos leaving Collingwood unless he's delisted, which won't be happening.

Terrific player and I'd love to get him, but we need to be realistic.  It's just not going to happen.

He has shown that he is becoming one of the competitions best rovers he has all the attributes to be to Collingwood what Shuey is the Eagles if he was every available I would go after him. His brother is a Carlton supporter so I am surprised Carlton haven't made a play they seem to have thrown money at everyone else.

The big question is why no club selected him before pick #57 which allowed him to go to Coll as F/S for peanuts!  Massive free kick to the pies!

He’d only shown flashes in his junior days, his absolute ceiling was 2nd round.

we had some interest and probably would have bid with our next pick, which was a couple of selections after he went.

Don’t think he will leave, but shouldn’t stop us from kicking the tyres. We could definitely use his his disposal inside 50. At the very least it might result in someone else falling out.

Daicos played very well last night. The pies have cap constraints so I don’t think its wishful thinking to have go. Can’t see it happening mind.

Mihocek on the other hand could be gettable. Most underrated player in the league. Someone has to be squeezed out at the pies and it could well be him.

He won't leave Collingwood - he's a Daicos!

He has been very impressive this year and is exactly what we need with his kicking skills and dash around the forward half. I assumed he just got a game because of his family name, but he's had a huge impact this year and is a reason why the Pies have made finals. Would be perfect for a wing opposite Langdon. Won't happen though!

Exactly.  Why would he leave ? His little brother is coming onboard for 2022.

 Move on

Absolute fairy tale of a topic.

As if a Daicos is going to leave Collingwood, Especially when his brother is about to join him.

Had he been drafted by us, he would have played like a pick 57.

Offer de Goey the world (I haven't been paying attention to his criminal charges so there's obviously that to consider). Worst off: the Pies have an extra cap-squeeze and we can maybe pry a Daicos or Mihoceck loose, or: we have Trac and Jordan in a single team which I don't think has ever happened in the history of football as to two top-five game-breakers.

There’s a difference between almost no chance of happening and not worth trying.

Offering a 3rd round pick for Dusty Martin isn’t worth trying.

Combining picks 20, 40, 60 and 70 for pick 1 isn’t worth trying.

Daicos is out of contract. Collingwood have a tight salary cap limiting the amount they can pay him. Assuming we have cap space there’s no harm in offering him a deal that would tempt him that reflects the value he could give us. ‘He’s a Daicos’ is not a valid reason not to make him an offer.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
