I'm happy with that plus I think Melk needs to go but doubt it.

You are jumping the gun by a big margin, just settle down until after tomorrows game

Out: Tomlinson, Smith
In: Hore, Lockhart

We have to go small down back and live with the idea that they'll get us a few times in the air. Tomlinson is just ridiculously plodding, let Stringer do as he wanted, managed 0 intercepts. Smith could be a decent player at a club with a backline coach who knew how to coach. But Troy Chaplin has no idea how to use him. He has to be instructed to play back shoulder with an arm across and given 100 spoils with both hands every training session. Near impossible to beat one on one when he picks up the play, nearly useless when he doesn't. Hibberd to slide deeper where he's still useful rather than attempt to chase smalls.

Out: Baker, Melksham, Brown
In: Harmes, Sparrow, Jackson

Baker's shown a bit but he's still iffy at the contest and unsure how to pressure. Would rather Harmes. Sparrow in to give us a defensive mid who might actually get involved in the game, bugger Melk off. Brown had a nice game chasing marks on the wing but if Jackson is right he needs to play.

Mate.

No.

I love Jackson but you can't drop Brown after that game.

I would 100% be up for Harmes replacing Melksham but if Goodwin didn't drop Melksham through the home and away season given the rubbish form he produced, it's not happening if we make the finals.

I'd keep Baker over Sparrow for structure.

I'd drop Smith for Lockhart but keep Tomlinson whose workrate and spread is important to our transition.

Gee I thought Brown had a decent crack and again just like a week or so ago commited his body in a marking situation and could have got cleaned up! I like him smart footballer knows where to run and gets into good spots. Could have kicked a couple today. I would definitely keep him on another 1 year deal!

If you replace Smith with someone who gets more involved in attack, leave Hibbo deeper where he's not as gassed and give the mids and Salem/Riv (and Lever, May) a much needed rest then Tomlinson's work rate isn't as much of a factor. I'm certainly appreciative of that part of his game but jeepers peeling off to get 20m kicks should be the bare minimum from every player on the ground not something special.

Brown chased kicks to the wing. Good luck to him. But that won't happen against the Eagles. Remember round 1? The only way we have a hope in scoring against the Eagles is to have key forwards who can provide a contest. Which means they are willing to jump and compete in the air and Brown doesn't do that.

Wait till tmrw evening.

Is anyone getting the 1987 feeling right now? Granted there isn’t much at stake as there was then

Even just writing these words in the comment box feels like conjuring the biggest hex on the planet.

When selecting for the finals we must be careful not to run Gawn into the ground as we will need him for all four matches.

For this reason LJ must play.

20 disposal 13 marks and you want to drop him,

Better to drop dropkick Wiederman

gives us nothing

does he need glasses to see the ball?

Dont kid urself the side in 87 would EAT this side of 2020 With a few exceptions!!

If we do make it and assuming we play West Coast we need to sure up the midwfield as much as possible.

I fear Gawn will get destroyed by Naitanui and West Coast’s midfielders will attack contests at speed while we are flat-footed.

What about Changes  for the  Preliminary Final?

Chunky should be right,   Hannan for his runs around the boundary ,  TMac  and  OMac

Maybe we could loan Ed Langdon to the Dockers for the day. He is so fit I'm sure he could still run all day. We want him back though!! What a wonderful recruit he has been all season.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
