Why would Collingwood trade him he is their only forward. Persist with Jackson, Weideman and Petty it will pay off.

Do we have a choice?

I'd chase hard! would really sure up our forward line,

Imo Jackson will continue to develop in that role and Tmac with a pre season and injury free run may also be able to find some form.

do need Weid to take another big step though

We desperately need a second tall forward to play alongside Weideman.

Whether that's TMac, Jackson, Petty or someone at another club, it has to be a focus.

As such, if we're looking at players like Mihocek, that's a good start.

As I mentioned in the Gunston thread, he’s an upgrade on Melksham/Fritsch/Hannan in every facet of the game. Worth asking the question.

It’s surprising how many people are happy to settle with those 3 as our Pockets/Flankers.

We should always be looking to get better and Mihocek brings a lot more physicality and consistent effort than those three, plus he actually kicks goals.

Exactly. Mihocek would replace Fritsch/Hannan/Melksham as a mid range forward. He would not be competing for a spot with Weid or Jackson

Yeah. he is a ruck, not a forward and I don't think we can carry 3 talls in our forward line with the poor crumbers that we have. We can't rely on pickett or Spargo to even find the footy, let alone kick goals.

I think he's a rare talent and has the potential to play  multiple positions. Would suggest holding off pigeon-holing him just yet.

And as for Mihocek, yes please, with him on the list we can develop Petty as a CHB.

Spoke to brother in law - Pies (yes, yes, I know - my darling wife and their entire family are Pies - a fact she did not disclose on our pre-relationship disclosure form) - about this. He said "you can have him. Can't take a contested mark, soft." I responded "lolz, he will fit in at Melbourne then. " (Self flagellation, it's a Melbourne thing, eh).

Anyway, that feedback doesn't accord with what everyone else here says.

Weid v McKay from the Blues, who people rave about. He is tracking ok Weid,  McKay has Casboult who requires a big body, i think Weid would benefit so well from someone like Mihocek.

There’s obviously talk about Ben Brown but I’d think he’d potentially be too much of a clash with Weid. I think Mihocek and Weid could work well together up forward. All for us chasing him.

We should be chasing hard, definite upgrade on anything we have now.

Can play down back if required

Port Melbourne premiership player at CHB

I was hoping we might have drafted him back then

He stood out as being too good for VFL

Jacko is one of our best below his knees Will be a generational NicNat type player and work with any forward line as he has shown already!

Haven't seen enough of Petty to make any judgement  regards to playing forward

Better to have some cover in case he is not what we think he might be. get another forward if we can.

Like MFC, its a matter of which Mihochek turns up on the day. Very unpredictable player. He was an inspiring match winner on Saturday but stunk up big time in last seasons preliminary final with just 2 touches in the pies narrow loss to GWS.

Posted

Bid the pies up and make someone from their list fall out and create a unhappy environment.

Make them pay for offering a Ruckman 1.2 for 7 years, one of De Goey or Mihochek will fall out the can't possibly keep both.

Posted

Again reported that the Pies and Mihocheck are miles off in terms of money. Collingwood will have to give a piece up to keep both Moore and De Goey on money that will leave them untouchable for years to come. No doubt the pies are also in the same camp as we are in needing a good key forward. Would come at a fraction of the cost of a Ben Brown, a much more competitive player (imo) and hard as nails. Could be the missing big body that straightens up our forward line. Isn't going to kick beyond 40 goals a season but the structure and competitiveness he would be bring would be enormous.

I hear Collingwood are looking for more tall forwards, if we were to get Mihocek could possibly trade Mcdonald to the pies? And if they were wanting more, maybe the pick we get from GWS for Preuss. I'd say Mihocheck is a late second rounder or early third.

He seems to be behind Moore, De Goey and Daicos for the priority signing.

He wants to stay but the 'modest' offer isn't acceptable.  By one report he is looking for $500k and 4 years.  This seems reasonable as he will soon be 28 and has been in the AFL for only 3 years and this is the only chance to earn some reasonable coin.

Interestingly, he has been a Rookie for all of those 3 years so on absolute minimum wages.  That is a very good wicket for the pies.  Think its time for them to pay him what he is worth.  If not wouldn't mind him at the dees.

You can stay on the rookie list whilst making more than the rookie minimum. For the last 2 years he would've been on at least decent money. Do agree that this is his best chance of a pay day and he deserves one.

Yes, I know.  As a rookie he was most likely on base plus match payments so in all, well under the average AFL salary package.

And the pies have had the extra benefit of the first $80,000 not included in their sal cap.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
