Jeez Goodwin has been unlucky

The Flying V off the back was lauded as innovative etc then 6, 6,6

He goes and recruits Burgess and now shortened quarters are on the horizon as a mainstay.

....I only have one song in my head

We'll bring Gaff across then they'll make it 16v16 with the wing position removed.

As a spectator, short quarters suck IMO. Leave the game along Gil, you [censored] jockey.

I hate the shorter quarters too but at least 18 minute quarters are an improvement on this year.

(I assume the proposal is 18 minutes + time on)

28 still leaves room for manipulated blockbusters that will see MFC disadvantaged.

34 games or a rolling fixture

2020 was a simple 17 game fixture yet even then the AFL played with it so the power clubs got the ratings sponsors etc

Happy as long as we negotiate a level playing field. This could be our last chance.

Shorter quarters can only stay if they make it 16 v 16 in my opinion, but obviously that’s a massive change.

18 v 18 in shorter quarters is the main reason for disgusting congested low scoring this year.

We bring Jordan Lewis and Lever in and the third man up rule goes etc

I'd have no problems with this as long as we don't get stiffed on where and how often we have to travel interstate again. Perhaps an interim move towards a 34 game home and away season where everyone plays each other twice.

Brisbane and GC should get no home games to help even things up from this year.

Hawthorn & North could have so many games down in Tasmania that they may as well move down there permanently.

Perhaps the lower tier(VFLor whatever they call it) could be 16 v 16.

It would reduce costs and trial the concept.

The lack of scoring this year has been a real problem. Perhaps reduce the team to 21 (18 +3) and limit the rotations.

I would at least consider 18 min quarters, makes the step down not as severe as suddenly 20% of the quarter gone. Watching footy this year has felt like more breaks than anything else and if it's not a break it always feels like there's one creeping up very soon.

There won’t be a vaccine by March/April for General Use.
Too early to make any plans

This

i actually don't mind shortened quarters

but, really, i would also not opposed massively reduced interchange allowance and 16-6 as opposed to 18-4 line-ups

ultimately, this is wholly and solely about players not being willing to take pay cuts

Back to normal rounds and normal quarters. Shorter quarters this year have sucked. There is hidden inflation in this and we will pay the price.

Yeah and there may never be one, so are we supposed to stay locked down forever?

Open everything back up and lets get on with life

Maybe we will win the spoon next year just in time for them to introduce a draft lottery and give us pick 9

(Censored)  up the game Gill Low scoring, short quarters , Holding the ball rule even the umpires don't get it .

What other bright ideas have you in mind.

Change doesn’t suit a lot of people and I’m no exception however, at face value, much of the tweaks and turns from Gil and Hocking have done close to zero in my view to improve the spectacle.

The bloke’s a full blown megalomaniac.

Heaps no in my opinion. McQueen above noted how we're all un-inclined toward change and so I've reflected from as an objective stand-point as possible and have come to the conclusion of heaps no. Give me back my game.

Also - I live outside of the Melbourne football bubble so I'm not sure if it's this Browne who I'm meant to scoff at or some other Browne. ?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
