Just got to win today. No excuses. Win and we get a 6 point buffer on the dons and keep ahead of the giants and dogs on percentage.

I must admit I'd rather see vanders in there instead of neal bullen but I do hope the Weid can have a really good game today.

Have fun FND. You have 2 games to go to

Do you know what crowd size is allowed at the ground?

What will the conditions be like?

As if all us southerners aren't aren't suffering enough D11.

No work, no footy, no finals here, the GF stolen from our magnificent G, no men's bars (wait, is that an essential service!?) and here you are bringing up the 'perfect one day' factor.

May the fleas from Gawny's sacred beard infest your armpits!

Via Zoom?  Thought about pre-recording your responses?  Hit the play button and your away GC!

MFCSS radar station is on full alert.

The Darwin games last week were rubbish to watch because of all the sweat dripping onto the ball. Likely to be the same in Cairns?

I’ll take 4 points in any conditions, but hoping we at least get a dry ball game.

Wasn't aware of this. Is it available on replays?

Its not an option. I wish it was. I hope it will be

I've asked demonland to use his social media clout to start a viral, online campaign to convince kayo to include it as a replay option. Crickets so far, so i thought i'd try out a hash tag. Too long?

The game is now sold out. Max pax is 13,500 but there is no way they have got that at a 4.40pm Thursday game. I’ve found a figure of 25% of capacity so maybe around 3,500?

Many Demonlanders have their wish - Harmes will play in the midfield.

Source?

If it's just your conjecture, then I'll see you and raise you Harmes in defence and Smith forward/relief ruck

I will approach all four of our final four games the same way: with extreme nerves.

Our form against the weaker sides this year has been solid (comfortable wins over Adelaide, North, Hawthorn and Gold Coast). But with the significance of each of these final games comes pressure, and we all know we've struggled with expectation before.

We should have Sydney covered. They have been distinctly mediocre all year. Their win over GWS was exciting but IMO an outlier. Their only other wins have been vs Adelaide, North and Hawthorn (and each of those was by less than two goals). Since beating North in Round 3, all their losses have been by at least 26 points except two: Richmond (a well-publicised defensive slog) and Collingwood (Collingwood's inaccuracy kept the Swans in it but Collingwood dominated most stats). And they're missing a handful of key players.

And this maybe why I smell a huge dump of complacency looming overhead - hopefully just a cumulus nimbus

Alas there will be no smoking meat for Josh today, I'll be farming the pig instead of eating it, but go the Dee's none the less.

Do have a nice big brisket lined up for father's day morning though.

Geez GC you ain’t having much luck. I’m lucky that firstly I still have a job but still am working from home so time of the game is irrelevant to me.

Good luck and just talk fast and it will be over in plenty of time.

So I consulted Titus O’Reilly and he’s very philosophical about the game:-

“As for the Swans, their painful season is at least approaching the endpoint, but they always give it a go, which worries me.

Why can’t they just give up when things are hopeless?

I mean, I give up when things are mildly annoying, but that might explain why I have achieved very little, while the Swans makes finals almost all the time.

That’s my big worry in life. That trying is what makes the difference, not destiny and that exhausts me.

I’m tipping Melbourne, just to really hurt myself.”

I see we are in the black out zone again. I swear if we made the Gf channel 7 would have a black out and  it would only be on Foxtel. Oh well I will be checking the scores and watching high lights package later tonight. Yes I know I could join Kayo, but for watching the dees for 7-8 games over 6 months it hardly seems good value when I have already paid a membership that I cannot use. The joys of being a MFC member never cease.

In a year when prime time has been comparatively easy to score we have been royally screwed.

Don't forget you can get a free three month kayo sub by taking out a free Bet easy account. (And you can just renew it for free again .. weird)

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
