Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Adams and Buckley praise AVB

Think it was Taylor Adams doing the praising. demons-heartfelt-gesture

Good to see no grudges by either side.  As it was, I thought Reid pushed AvB while in mid air that made the knock on Brody more forceful.  An amazing recovery by Brody to get up and play this wek.

Aaron seems a top bloke as evidenced by his stoicism and hard work in 2017-2018 thru his injuries, his father's passing and running the family business (in NSW) from Victoria.  It looked like he might leave the Dees for Sydney and who could blame him given his personal circumstances.  Its a measure of the man that he chose to stay with us and still carry on his family affairs.

I reckon it is not only his physicality on field that makes his teammates walk taller.  Sets a great example on and off the field.

It might becoming clear why I have been Aaron van den Berg’s greatest fan on this site.  If you haven’t listened to the Podcast, do yourself a favour and you’ll understand what a great influence he would be around a young group. You’ll also understand that he barely trains such is the delicate nature of his foot.  Importantly, how important is he for a Club that has had a reputation amongst the footy industry for being “private school” soft for many, many years.  AVB would be one of those players that Sheedy would have adored.

Yep, really loved his interview on the @Demonland podcast the other night. Seems like a really nice bloke.

Really was a nice bloke. Before I started recording ask me how I was doing down in Melbourne in lockdown. I told him it was hard home schooling 3 kids. At the end he wished me the best of luck with the kids and hopefully life will get back to normal soon.

All the players we've had on the podcast have been well spoken and polite. Aaron seemed to be really genuine and it was a nice touch re: the follow up to wish me and the family well with lockdown. Not a knock on anyone else we've interviewed just further praise for Aaron.

In the RSN story accessed through the link it includes this line, “Not only did he text Brodie after the game, but he also bought Brody’s partner a bottle of wine and wrote a nice letter.”

Just because it's an online story doesn't mean basic checking shouldn't be done. Couldn't they at least find out how to spell his name and do so correctly rather than having a bob each way?

And well done to AVB for his actions and Taylor Adams for bringing it to the public's knowledge.

I hadn't heard the podcast interview so thanks for the tip.  Further reinforces the impression of a top bloke and example setting, from his time at the club and the occasional media article.

A very good speaker.

Going to bed with Vanders is a frightening prospect. Get crunched in a hug and then he probably misses the intended 'target'.

Agree, fantastic  insight. His injury history, even before getting to the AFL is insane. His commitment to the rehab and work required to get back to AFL level on multiple occasions is next level and must be so inspiring for his teammates.

The interview is really top shelf.  Andy's interviews (and this one a great example) are a terrific balance between well researched questions, good interviewing technique and coming from a shared place of passion for the club.

I listen to a lot to the player and club interviews on radio and websites etc etc. More often than not they are by the book, with not much real insight and pretty dull. Vander's interview (and the others) was the opposite, genuinely interesting and insightful.

As an example i didn't realise vanders isn't training between games. Provides context for his relatively average disposal efficiency. Also how close he came to permanent injury his eye is truly frightening.

I think his foot injury gave me context for his kicking and even the balance on the handballing.

He really is a fascinating player though, because I maintain he doesn't need to even register 5 tackles before he's had a big influence on a game. And we definitely miss his hardness around contests when he's not there.

Agree 100%.  It seems pretty evident that all the players stand taller when he's out there.  That can't be measured or quantified by stats.

Haha. AVB knocks a bloke out and then starts making moves on his girlfriend. Old-school legend.

There was actually a comment yesterday on the Tweet posted above that simply said "sleazy" (Pies supporter, I think)... thankfully, it appears to have been removed.

In a rare instance on Demonland I've come around on Aaron (noting, again, that I once thought he was the second coming of Carey).

Didn't think he was much chop. Clichés such as the team standing taller, barometer etc. didn't persuade me against kicking efficiency.

Now I'm completely sold. I want this bloke in my team. Not only his hardness but his persistence is probably inspiring for teammates.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
