The media havenโ€™t picked up on the fact that heโ€™s been an outstanding recruit and has completely filled a need we were crying out for - competitive winger that stays involved the entire game.

If Richmond or Geelong recruited him the media would be all over him.

I think Langdon has caught Butler as the club house leader after tonights game as the best recruit of the year from another club.

Thought today was Tomlinsonโ€™s best game for us too. Thereโ€™s still a few holesย to fill, but our recruiting and drafting over the past couple ofย ย is going to give us a good chance ofย a crack at winning itย in the next few years I believe.ย

I think Thommo has been a worth while acquisition, he's not a winger, i know he was recruited as one but it took the footy department a month to work out a square peg doesn't fit in a round hole.

The move down back has been a masterstroke as he's looking much more assured through his marking and defensive efforts.

Our defence is fast becoming our strong suit, Midfield is our bread and butter but atย times our achillesย heel, while our forward line is a work in progress.

Langdon shows great leadership. When we don't have the run of play he's the most noticeable in wanting to turn it around. Great recruit.

hill was great tonight. ended up waltzing down the corridor with the ball when the final siren rang; 5 seconds more and that could possibly have been a loss for us

I do believe that Tomlinson may well prove to be a great asset as well, finding space, two-way running and positioning out of defence into the attack. He is taking some time to adjust to these roles fully, in comparison to the contributions of Langdon. I have patience and look forward to this occurring - the signs are there - the execution is tentative at present. With a few team wins to come across the board, I'd expect Tomlinson to reek confidence in his aptitudes.ย

dead slow, poor overhead, wasn't any good the last 5 years... why do you suddenly think he's going to come good all of a sudden?

Any further upside looks extremely limited with the assets he has.

Was great to have some unorthodox camera-work tonight to get a real appreciation of Langdon's work-rate. I was puffed out just watching him. Whether league-wide recruit of the year or not, I think he is our best plug in eons. Another one this off-season would be a dream.ย

Langdon wasn't even rated on demonland by many members. He has been a jet since day 1

What we get from Langers is always running up or down the wing whether we are 5 goals in front or 5 goals behind.

He also is starting to find targets consistently and more penetration in his disposal. Very good recruit.

Ed Langdon with another fine performance to help propel the mighty Demons to victory.

Butler was invisible.ย  He will fade away the rest of the season, same as his team.

Like May, his last month of football has been very good.

Jones was a gut runner for years, not Quick but not slow.

Most of the time Jones was under a pile of players at a stoppage or he was kicking or handpassing it straight to an opposition player.

I agree he played well lastย night but his year has been average at best

I think it's almost like Langdon is actually competing with May for recruit of the year status, as we are only now really seeing the best of May;ย  it's like May is a virtual recruit this year given how little he played last season.

Football didn't recommence until June.ย

He's actually one of those players who's efforts often don't overly stand out and particularly when we have a big win, I often struggle to put him in our best.

But I think his value and contribution to the side are immense and he his output is very consistent.ย  Even in our losses, he never seems to go missing.

Wouldn't surprise me if he finishes top 5 in our B&F.

I gave him a shout out in the game day thread last night as he goes unnoticed most weeks.ย His hard running was match winning. Twice in the last quarter he busted his gut getting back deep into defense and saved goals when our defenders were caught out of the contest. The media and game watchers wonโ€™t have noticed it, but the coaches will be highlighting it internallyย this week. It was brilliant work rate and showed his mental toughness when his teammates were all struggling. Winning or losing, he always busts his [censored] and should be commended for his brilliant work ethic and attitude.

I was very happy when we recruited Langdon and said on here heโ€™d finish topย 5 in our BnF before heย even played a game for us. His 2019 at Freo was very underrated. His output was exactly the same as Brad Hill, if not slightly better. By trading Langdon in weย got what we needed for our wing and paid far less than Saints did for Hill. Heโ€™s also a few years younger. Sure heโ€™s not an elite kick, but he gets the job done more often than not.ย IMO heโ€™s one of our best recruits in decades. Heโ€™ll own a wing at the MCG for the next 7-8 years.ย

He isn't half the player Langdon is.ย  I knew that last season in the fake asterisk covid campaign though.ย  Anyway enough about that St Kilda scrub.....

Langdon has kicked 6 goals in 5 games so far.....ย  he needed to kick goals to get to the next level and now hes All Australian bound.

Langdon has beenย consistently excellent.ย
The Wings on the MCG are such important areas

Our recent recruiting has targeted our weaknesses beautifully.

ย

Key defender shortage - ok, lets get Lever and May

No wingmen - No worries, we've been in Langdons ear for years.

Not sure about the progress of Weed - Ben Brown, come on down.

ย

Our recruiting (poaching) staff have been as good as any team in the AFL and possibly better than all of them.

ย

I might be happily married, but I love Langdon. Deeply.ย

He has finally filled an MCG wing- shaped hole in my cold MFCSS heart.ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
