This kickouts to Gawn, so stupid and one of the reasons we suck. Yes he might mark it. But who wants their Ruckman with the ball 55m out from your defensive goal, it's so predictable the next kick will go down the line. Finally changed it up before the siren and we look dangerous.

Yep there needs to be some variety, we actually slow things down to allow him to get into position. By that stage Port are set up to block and spoil him.

I don't mind it being a plan A but have some other tricks up your sleeve, we are one of the few clubs that gets no return for the other team missing opportunities.

did Goodwin just say we need to come up with a strategy?

Jones says he feels like he can offer something to that "not many others at the club can at the moment"

Fascinating...

Is this an example of an old head questioning the heart of the young brigade?

Bloody disgraceful half of football. Overpaid self important pretenders. Pack up and [censored] off and let us lead a normal life.

Maybe Covid can do us a favour and knock out the rest of the country so this season can be null and void. I know the lads are playing like it doesn't matter already.

looks like the demons of old are back. our disposal and turnovers are killing us as usually. they are hungry for the ball and out players are just chasing tail. total lack skill

Where's Weideman? The only time I saw him was on the bench in the first quarter. Can someone tell me if he's injured.

This club needs to own the fact they are B grade pretenders who rip the soul out of people who support them.  Careers and coaches now must be held accountable.  Sackings please enough is enough

We are getting nothing from the umps, our players getting clearly held onto but it gets completely ignored, they get a shot on goal from it.

First quarter 7 frees to 4, + multiple 50 metre penalties throw in, Second quarter the screw turns Port's way...

MFC like a drunken sailor all over the shop.

This is worse than the 80's

We have too many passengers. Hannan has done nothing except give away a needless 50m and subsequent goal. Salem plays too timidly, So many players who have gone AWOL. Harmes is a liability. They are mentally fragile. Might as well trade Gawn, because we don't benefit from his hit outs. Our midfielders can't use the ball. Only one who i have confidence in is Petracca. We really are becoming the laughing stock of the AFL. No success since 64.  That's 56 years. If we can't win at least play attractive football and try to encourage new supporters who don't mind that they may never experience a premiership in their lifetime, but still enjoy the footy. Bring back Mark Jackson & Allen Jakovick stc....

We are being destroyed through better coaching again.  Port get it to the outside and go fast.  We get sucked to the inside and watch as the ball flies away.  Second to contests, lazy tackles, no vision, not running for each other.  As 2019 as any game this year.

Didn't want Lyon for a coach, but would certainly take him now. Someones got to teach these players how to play.

Clarkson is probably also gettable. Any of those 2 would be a hell of a lot better than what we have got.

Our kick out is easy to defend, as they know exactly where it's going and even if Gawn Mark's it, they've set up behind it.

Basket case really insulting to those who have invested Time, Emotion and Money into this shiiizen Club!

Worst game I have seen them play live in my life in this first half. Yuck!!!

This second half better be the best ... cause ... wow.

Would be a good start. I would love a coaching group with a strategy other than kick long to Gawn then bomb longer inside 50 to nobody

One handed efforts. Behind his opponent. As timid as a young calf for the slaughter.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
