While he hits the scoreboard most weeks he needs to start bringing a bit more.

FFS we jump on contracts don’t we. He has proven nothing to this point. Unreliable kick at goal and makes poor decisions when leading out. I’d hold fire. This is like Weidermans contract. I hope he doesn’t command much money

Its a 2 year deal Chell.... not like he's signing a big 600k 5 year deal.

He's currently in our best 22 who's about to hit the 50 game mark.

Makes perfect sense to me really. Still has a lot of development and improvement to go.

And would attract opposition interest for sure. much better to sign him up before they get a chance.

Good news.

Get Viney signed up asap please.

Don't fluff around or low ball him just get it done.

Surprised at how many have jumped off the bandwagon TBH. He's given away a stupid 50 metre penalty and despite a near-flawless kicking technique, he's had a bad few weeks converting set shots (which even the best forwards go through at some point). Other than that, he's barely put a foot wrong since he was drafted. Gives our forwardline a real point of difference and will only get better.

FFS he is a 45 game player who is coming out of contract. No one is saying he is getting a godfather offer? Does anyone believe we should not sign in?  Look at our out of contracts list which order you would sort them in. The earlier we tidy these no brainer decisions up the better for club and player.

Arent they supposed to play better when a contract is up for renewal?

His manager must have neglected to tell him.

(He will be back in hot form soon enough)

Kids doing alright for his size.

But you do the like the hysterical  overaction

What’s his best position, he’s played half back, wing, half forward and now this yr is playing deep forward...

Bailey had a great end to last season and a great pre season, form so far this yr has been ok.
Still has improvement and upside in his game ?

Bizarre that there's actually supporters who legit think we shouldn't be giving contracts to talented players like Fritta.

Can't wait until he hits the 80-100 game mark.

I was filthy on him on the weekend for the 50. But there no doubting his talent that's for sure.

I won't be unhappy to re-sign him but I wouldn't want to be paying him too much. I'd almost be tempted to see what he might be worth on the market. Probably nothing more than we paid for him originally (or around pick 30) so better off keeping him.

Been a while since people got wound up about re-signing our leading goal-kicker!

I think Fritsch is doing okay at present, and I am 100% sure that he is doing a lot of team-first things that reduce his visibility and stats.  His form is also 'fluctuating upwards', so to speak.

Aaaany moment now he's going to have a ripper, I can feel it in me bones.

Hopefully they get this done, it's necessary.

Since moving forward, BF has taken 39 marks inside forward 50 in 14 weeks. This would rank top 10 if not top 5 in the competition.

Playing with the team with the worst delivery in the competition.

He's in only his third year and will only get stronger and stronger physically over coming seasons.

His leading to pockets (not helping his conversion) needs to be addressed but as he gets bigger he'll back himself to take marks in more congested zones.

A must sign.

When we are looking, at contract time, at the talents that we have assembled in recent years, we often say that such talent is not consistent in its highly positive mode. Players are not as good, in other words, as it was initially expected to be and neither was the subsequent development of their skills and attributes. My stance is a little skewed, another way, from this initial criticism. My thoughts tend to centre on the development team and the overarching coaching. Hence, I must remember when considering players at the 50-game mark that these fellas are largely the product of Goodwin and his limited strategies, deployments and game plans. I am almost convinced that another head coach would have been more likely to produce that kind of development that the fans and members expect; Bayley is one of these players, as are Clarrie, Petracca, Gus, et al.

The kid is in the top 20 for the league for goals kicked and you’re saying he doesn’t deserve a contract.

Give me strength!

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
