I only got one ticket as well, I think its either an AFL, venue or Govt decision. Someone with contacts at the club told me the club only got about 200 tickets for local supporters. Dont know how reliable that rumour is but if true you really did win the lottery!

I didn’t end up applying, I wanted to take my fiancé who has been to a few games at the G with me on a guest pass, when we’ve flown down in recent years.

I understand the need for social distancing but 200 tickets for each club....The ground has capacity to hold a lot more fans, a lost opportunity.

Normally, being located in Newcastle most of the time means I have to travel a lot to games in Melbourne. But this week I was surprisingly invited to be in the ballot for a ticket to today's game as a NSW member. I was lucky enough to get a ticket. So I only have to come from Newcastle. I have no idea how the ballot worked or whether anyone actually missed out.

But, the reason for limitations on numbers is that they are only allowed to put a limited number of people in certain sections (as per NSW government restrictions) and they have to be spaced right out. It turns out that my ticket is in one of the glassed-in sections in the main stand. It will not be as much fun as sitting in the Olympic Stand with the rest of the people I have shared the seats around me for many years week-in, week-out during Winter, but I feel very lucky.

Let's hope we do better today!

Mmmm, I was up at Metricon last year, with a couple of mates from here in Vicco, geez what a slog that match was. No turning point last year. But, the team does have ability to pull victories out of defeat. Lovely goal by Marty Hore, set up by some hardness from Hunt.

It genuinely feels it wont take much to fix, the conundrum is that it has felt like that for 18 months, so why hasn't it happened early. The amount of I50's means we're not actually getting smashed around the park... which is some light relief.

I was more so thinking about that 73 point win in 2016, which was a real scoring confidence booster for the team at the time and back at the Gabba in 2018 when our season was in danger of becoming irrelevant and we turned it on in the second half to beat them by 69 odd points - I recall Steven May kicking a 60m goal against us that game, we could do with one of those.

Bah! What a vulgar suggestion

I wouldn’t use that stuff to polish the hub caps on the farm Ute!

They are going to smoke us for pace but gee whiz on paper you'd think we are a 10+ goal better side.

Make no mistake, tonight is a battle of the coaches. Dew and the Suns will see this as exttemely gettable especially given how they probably should have beaten us last year.

My honest opinion is that everyone here brace themself and mentally prepare for the worst. Which shouldn't be hard as I'm sure it's something you've all been doing with this club for 30+ years.

My MFCSS says that Goodwin has selected these ins to show us why he hasn’t been playing them until now. To prove his point.

I hope he’s wrong!

Just do it today guys. The upcoming 5 weeks is do or die in a lot of ways.

I'm going for a long run now in the rain, seems like perfect preparation for an MFC game.

Know it will sound like a cop out, but next week is the real test. This week is another one of those 'heat is on must respond' games. I expect us to win, but then next week we come up against a quality club with a fantastic coach on the rebound. That will tell us more about where we're at than this week. This week is the easy one to get up for, next week is the character test.

Of course in saying that, lose tonight and next week and I think that may be it for Goodwin.

Agree... the Essendon fiasco has skewed things and probably kept us alive an extra week.

Minimal rain in Sydney at present and around 16 degrees.

No excuses.

That was a decent report.

He still looks like the work experience kid though

In part I agree with what your saying but then I think with we’re at, we’re we’ve been at that every week is a test.

I was expecting we'd lose, but now after all the public criticism, we may pull our collective fingers out just enough to win tonight.

Yeah fair, tonight is still a test, but I just think this is your standard media attention week that most teams respond to. We'll be fired up, we'll be focused and we'll be conscious of the weaknesses at the front of our minds, but next week when the pressure is off again (should we win tonight) it's easy to just go back into cruise control.

Would be nice to show some composure with ball in hand and some semblance of plan B if/when GC get a run on.

Our manic rush to get he ball fwd has to be tempered with a few smarts.

I am glad the heat is on. They deserve it. I think we all are keen to see a response.

I'm enjoying the 'smidge' of optimism in this thread.  It's lifted my spirits, and I'm now looking forward to tonight's game.  Long live the Demonland optimists.

It’s kind of amazing how the sins of the past take a back seat on game day. Come to think of it, this particular feeling is the thread that my allegiance hangs on.

I think they capped the numbers for the ground based on GCS membership x 2, which equals 400.

Given our players copped it a bit in the media this week, we might have a better chance of seeing nearer to 4 quarters of decent intensity (historically this is usually what has triggered a bit more from the players at MFC). If we do, guarantee our skills will look much better.

If we don't see it this week, then buggered if i know what it's going to take.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
