Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed

I agree that it would be fair for us to get the four points. Their player stuffed up. End of story. Could not get a more natural consequence.

That said i hope we don't because i want to watch us beat Essendon and build our percentage (note: i reserve the right to revisit this if we lose)

i told her to go inject a virus

Could not be more ironic given the whining from Matthew Lloyd about how unfair it would be for the bombers to have to play this week. particularly given the terrible circumstances they unwittingly found themselves in with all that nasty drug stuff. Poor things.

I haven't watched any of the footy shows this year, including FC (i have done previously). Might tonight to watch Matty cry

PLAN ?

Given it would appear the season will derail in the next 4-8 weeks, at that point we start again with all teams in a hub for two weeks, play AFL X style games on a round robin basis, declare a premier and give them a plastic trophy?

At least you'd have a level playing field, with a justified winner; even if it would be crappy to watch. And we've got runs on the board already....

strangely enough if the AFL hadn't stuffed up AFLX it would have made an ideal comp this year at lower levels.

The current plan seems to be attempting to make the situation fair for Essendon and therefore (unintentionally) making it unfair for us. Why should we be disadvantaged by their mistake.

There have been enough mistakes on the part of Essendon, their player and the AFL to entitle us to the 4 points. If it happened to Collingwood, Eddie would already have a foot in the door of the Supreme Court over this.

This is absurd.  Practice in groups of 9 for tackling but be sure not to put all your defenders etc in a single group for fear they will all have to isolate.  Then tackle like mad during matches.  LOL

Call it all off...

I note in that AGE article it states:
The league also reiterated to clubs that games would likely go ahead even if clubs lost several players, effectively placing the onus on clubs to keep their players COVID-free by following protocols.

Following this policy, it seems to me that since Essendon effectively lost 22 players on Sunday, the game should have gone ahead, so we should have played and boosted our percentage nicely.

You know that policy is only for non TV rating clubs such as ourselves. Essendon etc are special

It's a bit like when a player like Selwood or Ablett is investigated for striking, and commentators fall over themselves declaring "aw gee, he wouldn't have meant to knock his block off". Then when May does it, it's "he's known for doing this kind of thing!!"

Some more Animal Farm for you: everyone is equal but some are more equal.

The Dons are more equal than us and the only remedy is to knock their blocks off, repeatedly.

The AFL have nothing to fear from the mighty MFC. Unfortunately.

I agree. We shouldn't be.

But i still want to watch us play the bombers.

I spoke to my happy Garry Baker avatar and he reckons the more games him and i get to watch this wretched season the better.

Lets say we play them on a Wednesday night. Play our next game on a Monday night and then another on the following Sunday.

It will be awesome. A Demon fiesta.

I wonder how much worse  a tackle is for virus transfer compared to handling an 'infected' ball.    19 touches worse than 2 tackles?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
