Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Only one melbourne player. Good. I must admit I got a laugh seeing Gresham, Moore and Saad named in the vic squad. You have to be joking.

Based on 2019, I'm not sure which MFC players you'd replace those guys with. They need to field over 50 players, and not all players are available for selection. There were always going to be some lesser names make the cut.

Incidentally, I would take any of Gresham, Moore (uninjured version) or Saad at the dees in a heartbeat. They're all very good footballers.

I think it’s a bit of a reality check for those who think it’s going to be anything but a struggle to win more than five games in 2020.

unless Clarry or Trac or Gus or Salem or Weed can become matchwinners it’s looking ominous... even with a better draw...and less injuries.

Gresham's nowhere near as good as Oliver, but he is a better forward - it wouldn't make sense to stack the interchange with midfielders. Oliver would have been on the cusp of the team - but I don't think we can claim he was robbed on 2019 form.

[censored] look at his contested ball and numbers

Gresham???????? I would rather play Clarry as Forward

Too Much Politics at play

Softwick probably thinks of himself akin to Norn Smith

IM SERIOUSLY [censored] OF AT THIS

Let's fly under the radar, bugger em! Clarry definitely should be in the best of the rest FFS though.

Well done to Nev, hope he gets through unscathed and represents the club well.

Sure, but isn’t there an argument that if all teams started out “rusty” then it’s just an aspect of the regular season? I guess my point is that the nature of the game these days is so much more physical and high-risk, that any kind of match that takes place with your team’s best players on the ground should be for premiership points.

Plus, the nature of pre-season training/intra-club matches these days is so intensive that I don’t think you’re going to see any teams start out rusty in any overt way.

I realise it’s an unpopular opinion, but if I see any of our players injured in this series I’ll only dig my heels in on it more. And I’ll also swear. Swear a lot.

I think there is something in this.

From memory it has been floated but clubs want some proper practice games and the AFL want to monetise them.

We are choosing to have two additional practice games so clubs must want them.

So our players getting selected or not in an exhibition game will determine or is some kind of indicator of the season ahead?  Yeah right.

I agree with others that this is all based on 2019 performances.  If this game was played at the start of 2019 when we were flavor of the month with all the so called 'experts', there probably would have been half a dozen MFC players in the game.

So fickle.

He would have looked good in the Big V.

My general reactions to the this topic are:

1.  So much better to bring back state of origin which actually meant something to the football public than have that other AFLX rubbish with the Patrick Dangerfield Lightening bolts or whatever;

2.   Would be better to have the Vics playing WA or SA than this  concocted 'All Stars' thing;

3.  Perhaps if it is a huge crowd drawer and ratings puller, the AFL could/might consider dropping a few home and away games (thus creating an even draw) and substituting them with a few SoA games - perhaps even a series;

4.  If we win a flag or two, I couldn't care how many of our players get into the state of origin games - heck half the side could be made up of MFC players for all care and if we were to get a few minor injuries out of it, then so be it.

For those concerned about having only Jetta chosen play this game, these are the players chosen from the teams we play in the first two weeks of the season.

Yeo

Sheppard

Coniglio

Cameron

Haynes

Whitfield
Kelly

Greene

If I’m a GWS supporter in particular I’d be pooing myself about injuries to any of those players. No way I want our equivalent (Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, TMac, Viney) playing this game. It’s not worth it

This should be the greatest motivator to the whole team all year.

This is an indication of how the AFL and your competitorclubs feel about you.

YOU DO NOT EXIST, YOUE ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED AMONGST THE BEST.

YOU MUST PROVE THEM WRONG,

Now go and get em GO DEES,

Seeing Jetta limping a bit at the end of the Adelaide match made me wonder if we might pull him out of the match.

Lets hope so.

I'd have mixed feelings, I'd be a little disappointed at not having any representatives, but then it's not like we wouldn't have any because we don't have any that is rated high enough, it would be a case of not having any fit representatives.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
