Take a look at what Collingwood has, big advantage

2 Premierships in 65 years ( 30 plus years in the tougher AFL ) and 13 at ViC Park in the VFL would not suggest the advantage you assert David.

And their Runners Up record of about twice the flags also might lull them into a false sense of luxury or the fact that they have a habit of being SECOND BEST and perform above their ability.

I feel a little dirty after watching some of that.  I'm off for a full hose down and disinfect

Seemingly, it doesn’t help them in the first 3 quarters.

Correct - Facility link to high performance is a myth.

Brisbane Lions won the threepeat out of dilapidated facilities in Brisbane. Waverley Park was hardly elite in Hawthorns threepeat era. The Melbourne Storm have won several rugby league titles out of AAMI Park, as have Melbourne Victory.

Then let's move back to what we had at Junction Oval!

I cannot understand those who are satisfied with a public oval for training, a gym shared with multiple other sporting clubs, shared rehab rooms, no lap pool, pokey admin offices a km away, and the list goes on and on...

Whilst we have Casey facilities available that are quite good, we should also have a committed home base like every other AFL club

I'm amazed with our recent success given the hotch-potch facilities we have. I reckon better facilities helps players get better and contributes towards a culture of elite performance

Personally I still don’t understand why we can’t be incorporated into the Southern Stand upgrade. It would surely all fit and we can stay at goschs…..otherwise I’m all in for Caulfield

Sorry I hate the filth. Growing up with my mates at the MCG (or is it The G ?) watching Peter McKenna & the Richardson bros tear us apart.

God I hate them.

It'll be great to see them as runners up again as they will be this year.

Go Dees

Because that’s just too logical for the AFL

Me too Hardley. They were always on TV, along with Carlton and Richmond, while other clubs playing better were given slow motion replays on World of Sport. They were given their high membership numbers by channel 7 pushing them onto us, which continues to this day.

I would love to see us beat them on GF day.

But the fact that they swooped on the Olympic pool and running track site, after the MFC passed it up, makes me furious and hate them even more.

Can we just do two things

1:  get Caulfield tucked away

2: Remind all others the G is OUR Home.. Ours.. all others are transient.  ( by winning )

Ffs..its not that hard a concept....is it .....

I don't think it's the AFL's decision.  They don't control the MCG.

In the next decade or so, we might have a lean year (like Richmond is having now). I don't want us to be shunted to Marvel in the unlikely event that we aren't winning. The G is our home this year, next, and forever.

The plan for Caulfield racecourse has been released.

Nothing about MFC, though they indicate there is scope for sporting and cultural developments.

given we are on a 10 year austerity budget now, i don't see any state gov money materialising in the near/mid term

we are stuffed i'd say, with respect to a new all in one home

current scenario to continue with only minor improvements

Another boat sailed i suspect.

What if we provide facilities for drag queen story time events as part of the masterplan? Or headquarters for a certain someone's union mates?

One problem is that all the apartment development profit goes to Racing Victoria.

We'll need a first class community benefit story to get State/Federal money. Most of those have already been played by the other clubs but there may be one or two left

I think this relates to land inside the track? There is both MRC owned land and public land (including an existing Council oval) outside the track on the Western and Southern areas of the complex. I think the western boundary is MRC freehold land that is largely intended for apartment developments but there is still plenty of scope for an MFC facility at the southern (Glen Huntly) end if space on the land inside the track is not feasible due to being used for other purposes. Also they are talking about a 15 year timeframe to develop so current budgetary pressures may not be as much of an issue down the track.

You hate dare, vision and intelligence then?

MFC is responsible for what they have created and the supporters and management they have attracted...and you hate others who have done nothing but succeed where MFC have failed

Geez.

Now Richmond..  who moved into our ground and the State Govt and VFL who allowed it...they are worthy of disdain .

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
