A bad look? Seriously?? If a couple of guys having fun and a bit of a laugh is a bad look, what has the world come to?

I think that May, Jones, Gawn, Hibberd, Lever, Jetta, Viney etc make a pretty good support group, not to mention the coaching and fitness people. I like to think it’s a win/win situation.. the club gains two very talented players, and two very talented players are given one last chance to prove themselves.

Agree with above.

No matter what the outcome it's a really great opportunity to firstly test our culture and leadership to take a player with his history and make him prosper. Like what TIgers achieved with Dusty.

Secondly a great opportunity for our revamped medico's and Burg's to weave some magic. If they pull that off not only will we get Bennell we might attract other players going forward like Hawks medico's have.

LOL because you were such an angel yourself when you were growing up.

[censored] spare me.

In Burgess we trust!! It’s probably his call if Bennells body can stand the tough rigorous AFL physical requirements.

Goody would be mastering his mind and motivation.

Both has tough assignments. But that’s why they command the $$$$$$$$

I wonder about this. Surely this would be a medical expert's opinion on calfs not a fitness and conditioning trainer like Burgess. I would guess medico's give opinion on whether there's medical potential to recover and set medical boundaries and then Brugess creates a training regime with the Doc's and physio's advice and what he can and can't do medically.

About Rnd 10 vs the Doggies at the G

You might want to put a big asterisk on this post. Because come round 10 next year and Harley's still in the rehab group a bunch of posters on here will be using it as evidence of the certain demise of the club.

True that @It’s Time. Some/many on here have a persistent misunderstanding that fitness and conditioning coaches make medical judgements. They can provide info on how fit and strong players are, and construct programmes to improve this, but only as the med staff allow players access to his input based on being injury free and able to withstand the work.

Has Doc Bruckner started yet? Reckon he'd have a valuable opinion on Harley' s legs. Would the club be consulting the surgeon who operated on him?

Or just the usual hysterics.

Fair bump. Play on.

Video is a take on Casey Frey, a bloke who uploads videos of himself dancing on Instagram, for context.

This is the sort of stuff my teenage daughter does with her mates on TikTok. Young men make choreographed dance video in 2019 after a few cans - quick, get the gallows ready!

Video was in poor taste... not because it was offensive or anything.. it was just.. in.. poor.. taste.

I recently learnt about ‘Instagram Influencers’. The fact young people get sucked in by them bamboozles me, bamboozles I tell ya.

These guys have got to be given a licence to let their hair down FFS.

The thing that surprises me though, if you are pro footballer, on 200-600k per year, surely you can afford something better than dominos pizza and the worst drink on earth.

Oh I'm not at all unhappy about the try before you buy scenario, I think we've actually got ourselves into a no lose situation with this to be honest.

What I was referring to was that the rules of the off-season prohibit him from training with a club prior to a certain date even if the club and player have already agreed to the terms of the rookie category he'll be on.

It makes perfect sense. We could have signed him as a delisted free agent, and he could have trained with us immediately. Or we wait until the rookie draft and get him then. This is an inbetween scenario.

I really could have done without watching that video.

I feel dumber.

Which is concerning if you know me

I reckon it'd be worth asking Freo fans if they think it was worth it.

I had a sniff around some of the Freo boards. Consensus seems to be that he's been more solid since becoming a family man, over the last 18 months or so.

Also that they'll believe it when they see it in terms of him overcoming his injuries, at least enough to get back to AFL fitness levels.

How about this video instead. It shows a fella who has something that is very hard to fake or learn - a natural instinct for kicking goals.

He. knows. Where. The. Goals. Are.

Love his left foot snap in the wet against Port.

Perfect kicking technique too.

And strong overhead.

Play him at half forward flank and he will be a very tough match up. And his fitness won't be too exposed.

It's only a bad look to you because you are an old fart, just younging having fun, and a bad look in what way. I keep hearing people say this  " it's a bad look" just because they think so.

Based on that highlight reel it would be a tragedy (in football terms) if he doesn’t get back to playing and reach his full potential. Fingers crossed and good luck to us all!

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
