I read the thread title and thought 'Goddard tips' was about his hissy fit entering the change rooms at half time

Really MS does that add anything to the post?

Old news Irrelevant really Are we going to recover?

Yes but it needs all parts of the Club on the same page and  little bit of fortune.

At worst 8 wins best 15 and dare to dream!!

We’re at least top 6 next year.

Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t know how to think.

Think properly at least.

“AFL legend Brendan Goddard”. Lol

Good grief, did he write it himself?

His methodology is to rank Mids, Backs, Forwards & rucks. Top ranked gets 18 points worst gets 1. Add the all up to get overall ranking.

His rankings for us Mids 8th Backs 13th Forwards 14th. Ruck 2nd. Add them up and get 39pts equal with Dogs at 7th,

Fun exercise to do our own rankings.

Our midfield ranked 8th for clearances and 5th for i50's this season. We know how many were effected by bad preseasons. Add a newly fit Petracca, AVB Langdon & Tomlinson to that midfield. I rank it 4th.

Am I overrating a May & Lever led backline. I don't think so. I expect our backline to be right up there next year. My rank 4th.

Forwards remain a worry. Don’t know what ranking was in 2018 when they were fit but we scored the most points for the comp. With the rest of the team firing and a fully fit forward line and remembering it was the highest scoring forward line in 2018 maybe 6-8 with good delivery.

Ruck 2nd. Says Gawny better tap ruckmand but Grundy gets first because does more around the ground.

My rankings add up to 60 which ranks us 4th.

Seriously...you don't have to be nostradamus or an AFL legend to work out that we will recover.

Goddard was such a good judge of things, himself.

Going to Essendrug....

Legendary status is a fickle thing.
If the ball had've bounced for Milne he would have been after his heroics during the 2010 GF.
To the Aint fans at least.

Goddard doesn't have to inform the world that what most already  know. I could have done that  and saved him the  trouble.

Brendon Goddard has the Demons around the mark for a top-eight finish in 2020.

He agrees with me.

Last night I dreamed Saints pantsed us in a practice game, sinking membership sales. Does this mean I have MFCSS?

No that is perfectly normal behaviour for a Melbourne supporter.

I will believe it when I see it.

This from a sulking whinger whose opinion I care even less about than that of Mark Robinson.

I have never bet on this club. But I will be having a decent go this year for top 4. As good a list as we have had in a long time. Touch wood we remain injury free leading into 2020.

You care enough to read it and post!

St Kilda will not beat us for the next three seasons and you can bet freely on that.....

It continues to amuse me how every player in the AFL is described in mainstream media as an “AFL star”. Even the first year rookies are “stars”.

'Former AFL player agrees with Demonland legend'

Gotta pump your own tyres up, who else will?

I have never bet on football figuring I lose enough emotionally let alone financially. But one time I did think I should have a go because I had a good feeling, so I resolved to put $100 on us to make the eight. That was pre-season 1998. We'd finished last 1997, but Neale was just starting out and we had finished the end of '97 on a high.

It just felt right for recovery.

I didn't put the money down in the end, to my regret. I say back your instincts.

Yeah you are right. My opinion counts, he can then agree or disagree.

So would Milne.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
