Love Harmes and better than a C Grader.

That was a disgraceful assessment for a player that's a duel top 5 B&F place getter and was near BOG in a final.

That Buckenara rated him below one of the Wagner's tells me all I need to know about his footy knowledge.

Well done, Jimmy. One of my favourites nowadays. Is only going to get better. Can't wait to see him attack 2020.

Love the James Harmes story.  Started as a rookie for the team he loved and grew up barracking for.  In his early days he said he knew he was on the fringe of 'best 22'.  Well young man, you have come a very long way since.  Play any role your team asks:  tagger, midfielder, inside/outside, defender.  Love the way he plays and absolutely rapt he has re-signed.

Not many players get 5 year contracts at the dees - shows how highly the club thinks of him (and that a few clubs came calling at trade time!).

Good news and one less player to worry about leaving.

Now bring on Tracca.

I think you're confusing players for some fans.

Great news. Harmesy is integral to our midfield. I hope he is used as a stopper again like he was at the tail end of 2018.

Great news!

One of the most improved players in the AFL and is unrecognisable from the player he was two years ago.

Sky’s the limit.

Rate him and happy he has re-signed, but in general I'm not sure i like 5 year contracts (unless that's what it takes to keep someone/poach them)

One important re-signing down, plenty to go.  Need to progressively tick them off the list.

Agree. And perhaps your last two lines are the reason.

5 years for a really solid midfielder is a good result.

Yes James is living our dream; passionate supporter becomes much loved and integral member of the team.
Love it!

PS Also love that he has got better with each year. He has surprised me how good he has become

Excellent news. Always rated Harmesy

The five year deal ... no ordinary offer for just '...an ordinary player...' - as we are incorrectly yet regularly advised. Onyer Harmesy! Keep going strong.

Great news, though that's a pretty long contract, usually those 5+ year deals go to top shelf players.

Another 5 years for Harmes is pretty low risk I would think.  He has always been pretty robust injury wise and will tie him up until he is 29ish and would not be expected to loose much pace by them.

Love how Harmes breaks lines with his tackle busting bursts out of packs and then gets on his bike and delivers long and deep.

The other thing I wonder is if the club has back ended his contract to try and help squeeze in Jack Martin or any other good prospects that might be around over the next few years?

Nothing shows a players confidence in where his club is heading than the signing of a very long term deal at a relatively young age. (Unless you are a Buddy and its all about the $$s)

5 years is some real job security on what should be quite nice coin for a young bloke too.

This season was an epic disaster, but the players seem to have not lost any confidence in the clubs direction.

Works hard, improves every year, and loves the club - GREAT OUTCOME!

Even more exciting is that with some depth in our midfield, he can be used better (stop roles when necessary etc), which means that he'll continue to grow.

I can see James holding up the cup one day, beaming with the unique joy of a childhood dream being realised.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
