2020 AFL Fixture

So we shouldn't have to play them twice due to ladder positions last year. How come we always play them over there ?Ā It's like always having to playing at Geelong every year.

Yep, time to shine lads! Get fit, prepare thoroughly and with purpose. Stay out of the media spotlight. Go over there, exorcise the demons of September 2018, but most importantly just get the 4 points! It is a marathon, not a sprint, but what a brilliant opportunity to make a statement! Go Dees!

West Coast in Perth Round 1

Ā

Good!Ā

Here I was thinking it’s been ages since we played the Eagles at the G.

I actually think if we win this and go on to have a good season, it’ll be like lifting the curse that was placed upon us at this venue during a Saturday afternoon inĀ September 2018.

We start winning games regularly, then we dictate or fixture.Ā
Right now we take what we are given, 2019 was a shambles

Spot on SWYL, it is easy for the AFL to treat s poorly after the crap we dished up in 2019.

With no injuries / poor preseasons I believe we can beat the weagles, we did it in 2018 why not 2020?

Epic lols.Ā
I can’t wait to see the rest of the draw. We are going to be screwed big time this season.Ā
Ā

Guess I’ll need to get Fox Footy again.Ā

Ā

Probably cop a Thursday night against Geelong at the Cattery in round 2.Ā

The only time I remember playing them there in round 1 we only kicked 3 goals and got trashed but the next week we won by over 100 points I think. Against fitzroy ??. Not looking forward to it.

I actually don't mind playing west coast r1. It gets that trip out of the way and Id rather do it early on then towards the end of the year. We have been petty lucky to play r1 at home the past few years.Ā

I expect the boys to be pumped and ready r1. If they aren't there is a problem.Ā

Then we are running tired for the rest of the season while everyone else is still fresh

Knowing this team we will win this and lose to Gold Coast at the G in week two.

Gold Coast are better to avoid early in the season, they are normally okay for the first part of the season.

Lol. I thought [censored] teams get soft draws usually. Looks like the AFL want north to get pick1 next year.Ā

Obviously not ideal, but there are a couple of things in our favour...

1. Better preparation time. Ā Top teams of 2018 all struggled in the opening couple of rounds this year against teams that had longer preseasons.

2. We actually have a decent record against WC over there compared to most:

2016: WCE by 6. (Dominated but we’re inaccurate- should have won)

2017: MEL by 3. (Close all night- great goal to win)

2018: MEL by 17. (Depleted Eagles but we dominated play all day)

2018: WCE by 66. (Can’t recall the details)

2019: WCE by 19. (Led all nightĀ until last quarter fade-out)

3. I’m predicting the Eagles to slide in 2020.Ā

Don’t have to travel interstate for a change to watch round 1.Ā
Ā

What’s not to like?

We kicked 2 goals

My only trip to the west was the round one game where we kicked 2 goals 8. If this is to be our only visit to the House of Boooooo nextĀ year then I'll take it.Ā

Ā

Had to be due to play interstate in Round 1. No tougher assignment imo. Though finishing 17th gives you no right to ask for favours. Ā It’s us against the world in 2019. Ā

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
