if it's only dollars Pies will find the money

Term is another issue

A sponsor or Coterie member will find him a spot on a payroll somewhere.  If it is a real 'job' spot on a payroll, it doesn't go in the sal cap.

It will be enough to make up for not getting a 3rd year.

Probably right LH

wonder what the equivalent of a Visy ambassador is at Collingwood.

As an aside American college footballers are not supposed to be paid but there is a network of rich/influential alumini known as "boosters" who they use to circumvent the rules.

I still think he will stay at the Pies. They will retire or delist someone else, to make more room.

He ain't coming to the Dees,  Pies will cave in and give him 3 years.

Still reckon we should offer 3 years plus a trigger for a 4th at 500-600k.

He sounds very confident.

"...I know that with his upbringing and with his personality, he is really drawn to ... kindred spirits or people that feel like family to him and I know that this place feels like family to him".

Maybe Buckley is trying to sell Elliot on the virtues of sticking with the blue collar team rather than join the so called 'silvertails that take their RR's to the snow on QB'...

Great to know that Bucks himself was the loyal, one club family-type himself who wouldn't leave for more cash.... oh wait...

Just my own personal opinion, but i think Elliot will most likely stay. And even if he leaves I feel like it's Hawthorn. Noise seems to be going towards them.

Don't you just get sick of Hawthorn !

So officially hearing that our coach is super eager to get him along with "many others" doesn't effect his manager's ability to upsell a little Bin?

Surely you aren't that naive.

Surely you're not that stupid?

The only thing that’s going to increase his price is if actual offers are made from rival clubs. His price won’t increase because of what a coach says or what a hack journo says.

Yep, could you imagine Elliot's manager in a meeting with Goodwin? "Yeah, so you said that you were interested in him, as well as many others in your radio interview. Due to the rumours going around about Hawthorn, and your comment on SEN, I'm going have to up his asking price by a few hundred thousand. Sorry, it wouldn't have been this way if you hadn't mentioned the interest on radio."

I was excited when I first heard that we were in the mix to land him. He’s just what we need.

I’m no longer excited at all, as it seems we’ve got no chance of landing him.

I reckon he’ll stay at the Pies - but, if not, it seems he’ll be playing for the Haws.

That said, I like supporting an ordinary club - it shows more character.

Do you think in the meetings with Elliot and his manager Goodwin didn't say we'd 'you're a great player and we'd love to have you at the Melbourne Football Club.'?

He's not going to 'neg' him: 'Jamie, you're terrible; no one else wants you; you're lucky to have us... sign now!'

He is in demand with 4-5 clubs wanting him to choose them.

Haha, the neg approach seems like something Peter Bell would try

Small injury prone small from Collingwood.

Worked well last time with Kennedy.

As it stands half the side is already injured.

Taylor would be really putting his job on the line taking this bloke IMO.

Likely not coming now from what I've heard.

Dees came hard, Collingwood ended up being able to up their offer.

Well, if we helped stretch Collingwood's cap just that little bit more, then that's something I guess.

Yes and I'll be very interested to see how many games they get out of him next year!

Be interested to see  if there is another iron in a fire re: small fwds. I think Lockhart shows something, not to different to Elliott in a way  (obviously long long way to go) but i think we need a classic crumber.

Geez I hope so.

I’ve been wondering if there is an intention to groom Lockhart for the dedicated small-forward role. And if not, why not. From the little glimpses we got this year, he could definitely fit the bill. I still think Spargo deserves another season before we make our minds up about him, but to my eyes Lockhart has more silk and seems more athletically gifted than Charlie.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
