This has to be by far the worst game I have watched all year.

We are absolutely [censored] atrocious.

mmmmmmmmmm

perhaps we are tired... no wait.. that was the 2017 excuse

This year it's injuries is the buzz word and the year before the year before it was we were too young

Goodwin needs to do something about Oliver... 2 touches in 40 minutes odd of football.. hello Coach

Salem 30 metre kick directly to Coffield's chest!!!

Can't handle the pressure

Where is the midfield? MIA.

It is purely the disposal. We get it and turn it over.

We are the worst skilled side in the AFL by a mile.

Both teams have had horrible skills, Saints have smashed us in the clearances, and that's where we need to start to turn things around.

Salem and Jones are having shockers.

Clarry tagged out of it.

Baker is poor around the contest.

Forward line is still disfunctional.

Yes and no. Yes disposal is crap but we’re not really setting up fr easy movement of the ball either. Everything looks hard. We’re SO [censored] ... structures, skills. So hard to believe we’re back here again so fast.

Schoolboy errors at this level is just embarrassing. I doubt we'll win if this awful brand of footy continues. Absolute shizenhouse

Salem can’t hit a target. Our disease has finally got him.

Salems always been overrated.

what a pitiful example of football. missing passes, handballs, tackles, no chasing.... actually its pretty much like we have been playing all year, so i guess we get top marks for consistency.

The more I watch us this year, the more I think that it's not the injuries and the interrupted pre-seasons, or the 6-6-6 that has caught us out. It's the lack of having a runner out there the whole time. The collective footy IQ of this team is about Auskick level and without an onfield coach (ie. Runner) we're literally clueless out there. We are a joke.

Oliver can’t handle a tag and he’s clueless as a forward.

Gee we are lucky to still be in front.

Why hasn't maxy just stuck his knee up into this young kid? Show him who is the boss

They have shut down Oliver completely. Our midfield need to regroup.

Its a shame we didn't try this Lewis experiment earlier. I don't mind it.

3rd quarter will be interesting.

I hope we spend more time trying to drown our players with weird training exercises instead of working on our skills.

Maybe dropping bricks on their heads might work this time...

Getting wacked at the stoppages and on the outside.  Nothing new here as we send too many to the contest and don't maintain outliers for the receive.

Forward line cactus ... inside 50 efficiency 45% to a whopping 63%.  Marks inside 50 .... 3 to 10!  To be expected given no T-Mac but we have the worst worst forward list (or equal with GCS).

If we dont address the forward line flop we are toast again in 2020.  Takes pressure off defenders/mids allowing them to recover a little and set up behind the ball meaning a more effective wall/press and more repeat entries.

Also are we still playing a spare behind the press?? I cant tell on the tele.  If not why not??

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
