C Wagner on the other hand...

I can understand why ANB is playing and why Hannan is not. And in all seriousness, C Wagner for Dunkley isn't much of a change. What interests me, though, is why J Wagner is in when it's two forwards that got the chop. We can but hope it means Salem on the wing or in the midfield.

Exactly J Wagner is a defender and we have our best 6 in such why play him?

Maybe twin towers Petty and May will be unleashed

Surprises never cease- both Wagners are in.

Bench: Wagner 1, Wagner 2, ANB, Lockhart.  That is a terrible, terrible bench.  Can't believe Smith isn't in nor is Baker.

Bit tough on Dunkley to drop him after just one two games.

So much for preparing for 2020 if Baker isn't in.

Edit:  thanks to @DemonWorshipperfor correction on Dunkley games.

What a Bulltish selection BOTH WAGNERS ????? FMD!

MFC TANKING MUST BE

Dunkley and Baker ARE the future!

JUST SHOCKING SELECTIONS

How ANB gets gifted games is astounding, Panic merchant!

Wasn't it in the Eagles game earlier this year where one of 'them' came to the bench revving up their boys saying something like 'Dees are soft, no pressure'?

Nah that was v Giants. I think it was Phil Davis

Agree. I'm convinced he may well have compromising photos of someone. There's no other reason for this selection.

I know our season is cooked but the decision to play Preuss is not a good one IMO. McGovern will have a field day on him and we need all the run we can get on the big Alice Springs ground.

Pretty sure one of The Eagles players were heard saying Melbn are Shizen during the team song post game

Corey Wagner. Yes. Had a real crack and can be dangerous small forward.

Josh Wagner. No. Too timid. Started well but turnovers are killing us and he does 4-5 shockers a game. This is his last chance.

Actually that sounds about right, I knew something happened. Certainly hope the players have been made aware of that during the week.

Both Wagners.......oh Goody !!!

WC will be fired up after last and should beat us by 60 pts plus.

Our back six is good but they have 4 excellent speedy small fwds that will carve us up.

At the other end their defenders must be laughing at our talls and lack of smalls.

Id try May fwd for the game to see if he could be a genuine swing man.

Spot on with May. We’ve got a bit of a weapon at our disposal with May. Just hope he can snag a couple if thrown down forward.

However with Darling, Kennedy and Oscar Allen, you’d think he’d be required in defence all day.

It was probably the same peanut (Vardy)  who pushed Gawn over after he injured himself in the goal square.

J Wagner offers at this stage in front of Baker or T.Smith even JKH is a mystery

J Wagner is a back/defender, while the others aren't. i.e. it's not a choice between Baker and JW for example, as they play different positions.

It would suggest that they want Lewis in the middle or playing a tagging role, plus some cover/relief for an underdone Jetta. With Petty moved forward, JW is next cab off the rank. (Actually, with our injuries, when it comes to half-backs, he's the only cab off the rank ...)

But heh, lord forbid that I suggest that the FD know what they're doing, I realise it's not how it's done around here.

We won’t be flogged. This team almost never is when it looks like we should be on paper. Floggings only come when it looks close on paper.

Not sure I’m prepared to go quite as far as calling a win though.

Regarding Wagners: I reckon their deficiency gets massively exaggerated on here. They don’t have much point of difference and they don’t have the extra gear needed to give us the lift we’re all looking for, but they’re both capable of being quite competent AFL footballers. This type of player always looks awful when looking through an angry lense and great when high on victory, but I think in reality they’re just middle of the road. Sure, we’d all love for better players to be available, but I reckon the thought that T.Smith or Baker or JKH or whoever would make a difference to the outcome is just delusional. They’re all in the same boat (with Baker having the youth upside).

On the surface it may seem like strange in’s, but think about it another way.

With the season cooked - perhaps guys like ANB and the Wagner’s were selected to see whether they can prove themselves as genuine depth for our list or not. I agree with this approach if true, we might as well see if these guys are worth keeping on the list or not. Show us your worth now in the 1’s or face delistment.

We know what the best 22 is gonna look like next year, so now is a good time to see which fringe players will survive at seasons end.

You’d have to think if any of them get dropped even once more this year that their days must be numbered.

Maybe but if we don't know what Josh Wagner delivers there is something wrong.

In simple terms he is a level 30 player...outside the 22 but handy backup for a back half shortage.

Good thing is that he is not injury prone which seems to be a big issue with our 25-35 range

You mustn’t understand what “this team” means.

If you combine the second sentence of my post with the third sentence, it changes the context! Isn’t English amazing?

Comprehension isn't jnr's strong suit.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
